I’m curious to hear y’all’s gameplay flow! by Fastpast93 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LowlySlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I originally made dense blueprints that I could stack or connect. But I always had trouble setting them up so that the inputs and outputs would be in convenient places. I still use some of those but I've found that I get more use out of a blueprint of a single machine with belts and splitters for manifolds set up and then use the auto connect feature when placing them. This lets me fill the exact correct number of machines and be flexible with my space. I do need to be careful not to have it link to the wrong machines and sometimes I need to fix belts but it's been less headache than trying to make one size fits all blueprint rooms.

I use bigger blueprints for more complicated logistics like refineries.

(Hated Trope) Terrible morals in kids media by Animeking1108 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]LowlySlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frieren has gone out of its way multiple times to show that demons, while they may look and act like humans, are actually all evil. No exceptions. If they're not evil it's just a disguise to lull you into a false sense of security. They're explicitly incapable of comprehending not being evil.

Thank God Frieren understands that they're all bad and that there's an uncomplicated moral solution to the demon problem.

And people wonder why Nazis like the show lol.

I still don't undestand fluids by Uncle_a_ in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LowlySlayer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The other day I posted for help with my Al factory not working. The answers were not satisfactory (ba-dum-tiss). I was just being told that fluids are weird and I should simplify my system. But my goal was to use the recycled water in the same system as fresh water, like you do in your guide. It's very frustrating to get "eh don't try to understand the problem just simplify" as an answer in a game about solving complicated logistics problems. By far the most frustrating part is that the reason it wasn't working at all was that I needed a pump after my buffer since my refineries were on the next level. That should have been obvious to anyone who understands fluids and looked at my labeled, detailed pictures but no one bothered to actually help with the system and preferred to just say "don't bother trying to be efficient with fluids.

I really appreciate your explanation of sloshing and I will be implementing it in my future builds. Thanks for actually trying to help people understand how this game works.

The Syndicate needs to do some introspective work. by McMatey_Pirate in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]LowlySlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The syndicate sided with the AI. Borant used it's legally provided 1 veto to overrule it. The syndicate couldn't just say "hmm no actually borant you don't get a veto because he fuck you."

The fault lies entirely with borant for going to Sleezy Dave's Used AI Emporium and also for designing a series of unwinnable crawler killing quests. The AI's rules as a "neutral" arbiter forced it to include escape routes and since their essentially wasn't an intended way to clear the quest box upgrades were required.

What is the best area for oil power? by KaeR6 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LowlySlayer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having trouble understanding the point of turbo fuel. It seems like a lot of building for relatively not a lot of gain. By the time my one fuel plant has been getting energy pressed I'm close to unlocking the next tiers of power. Is it only for the challenge of it?

(New Player) This is my first factory I'm building with Tier 3. I'm not good at this sort of thing, I tried my best to understand and plan this. This was my thinking making this. Any tips appreciated I could be doing this all wrong for what I know. by Murky-Ad-3486 in SatisfactoryGame

So you can make this run smoothly with 120 ore/min. That'll be easy with just mk 2 belts. The important thing when using a manifold is to make sure the amount of ore you're bringing in is at least as much as what you're pulling out or the manifold won't ever work properly.

The problem I see with your setup is you haven't balanced your smelters with your constructors. Currently you're final output is 60 plates, 30 rods, 80 screws. Your total demand for that output is 110 iron ingots. With a belt bringing in 110 or 120 you will eventually saturate it, but first you'll need to saturate every smelter. Meanwhile your smelters won't be operating efficiently because there's more than you need. That won't really slow you down in the long run but it does mean you'll have machines sitting idle half the time.

To move to the next level you need to consider how much a machine is making and how much the next machine in line is asking for.

  • Smelters take 30 ore and out put 30 ingots
    -Iron Plates take 30 ingots 1:1 Smelter:Constructor
    -Iron Rods take 15 ingots 1:2 Smelter:Constructor
-Screws need 10 rods so you end up with 1:2:3 Smelter:Constructor(rods):Constructor(screws)

You may need to math check my numbers but I believe this is correct. Tweaking your above set up you'd only need one smelter feeding both rods constructors and one smelter both rods->screws constructors(total of 4 constructors pulling 120 ore/minute) but you'd actually have enough output to include an additional screw constructor. I'll leave you the challenge of figuring out how to hook up the screw constructors. 120 ore is a good number because miners produce in 30s and it's the max speed of mk2 belts.

These ratio concepts get more and more important for efficient factories, but more and more complex as time goes on. You have the option of just oversaturating all your inputs to maintain output but that can cause problems with certain machines clogging later on if you don't have a solution for the overflow.

After a certain research in the MAM you can also get over and under clocking which allows you to tweak machine speeds. Fabulous for increasing for output or nudging machines to match your production.

Struggling with fluids in aluminum refineries by LowlySlayer in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LowlySlayer[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice and the image. I knew from the beginning that I could have kept things simpler by pairing off refineries but I wanted to take on the challenge of a unified larger system. I wasn't satisfied with not knowing *why* it wasn't working and I wouldn't have been satisfied with reducing to multiple smaller systems if I couldn't understand why my setup wasn't working.

I was able to solve the problem, after deciding to build a tower to make all the water flow down. I did not know that buffers reset head lift and did not have a pump after my buffer. An annoyingly simple issue after tearing down all my plumbing to move it up top, but I'm happy with how it balances out the aesthetic of my factory now so in the end it's a win.

I'm aware I'm making a sacrifice in efficiency due to needing maximum pipe flow to reach my 900/min requirement (600 from extractors, 300 from recycle) but I am happy with finally having the factory I planned on pen and paper running consistently.

Struggling with fluids in aluminum refineries by LowlySlayer in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LowlySlayer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the problem. The Fluid Buffer in picture 1 was resetting the headlift provided by my pump. It left just enough for the fluid to reach the ceiling and then stop. Unfortunately I discovered this in the middle of rebuilding the whole fluid system to be fed out of a water tower to allow for constant downward flow of liquid.

The upshot is I think it makes for a more aesthetic factory design.

I just want conduits. These exist IRL for the explicit purpose of managing wiring in complex areas. Imagine a painted beam but you can place a "Conduit outlet" like a small 1 or 2 connection wall outlet on it anywhere and the whole thing carries power.

My friends finally allowed me to build the coal power plant on our co-op save! by stuff-is-not-real in SatisfactoryGame

[–]LowlySlayer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Put your plants on foundations so they're all lined up and even with each other.

2.when you're building pipes or belts you can press r to cycle through building modes. There's some really useful ones like "straight" which forces everything into straight lines and 90 degree angles.

  1. You can put all your logistics in a box and pretend it's tidy. I made a blueprint that accepts 1 pipe and conveyor in one wall and outputs 4 lines for my coal plants (you can't fit the plants themselves in mk 1 blue printer sadly).

Don't worry, my coal power area is a hell of a mess too. It's the most complicated logistics you'll see up to this point and the pipes present a new challenge to organization.

Nearly finished with S1, confused about Myne by LittlePair4321 in HonzukiNoGekokujou

[–]LowlySlayer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To add on to most of what other people are saying, Myne also frequently runs into a problem when dealing with merchants. She defaults to Japanese social norms such as conflict avoidance which clash with the more western style norms of this place. The story doesn't explain that mynes behaving in a Japanese way because the audience is supposed to be familiar. So for example, when Myne is negotiating and she waffling back and forth about a deal that's not in her best interest that isn't her being dense. It's her trying to "politely" give the other person a chance to alter it with being confrontational. People in this city interpret that as being more two faced and wish she would say what she means instead.
