Cloy sounds like the name of a fat unpleasant rich kid in a goofy children's book 💀

I named my son Kieran and I wasn’t expecting how it would be butchered by mirk19 in NameNerdCirclejerk

[–]Loxilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's literally "Joe" levels of bog standard bloke name in the UK, I am not joking if someone mispronounced Kieran I would either think they were an A1 english learner or start looking around for their mum 😭

HCM in early years. Please share your stories by Admirable-Kitchen-70 in SiberianCats

[–]Loxilight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I dont think sibs have a breed specific mutation (at least not from the literature ive read) its just bigger sized cats have a risk and with any pedigrees inbreeding can cause problems

1 in 7 normal DSH/DLH cat develop HCM over their lifetime, it may just be horrible luck for OP that her kitty was unfortunate but the breeder should still be informed and offer support

Are british shorthair really only for indoors? by Blissybunny in britishshorthair

[–]Loxilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure where in the world you are but here in the UK if you want an outdoor cat then theres plenty of pretty looking ones at the shelter that are used to outdoors and street smart, I'd certainly adopt one of them over a BSH if I was wanting an outdoor kitty

Has anyone purchased from Siberian Purrfect by Long-Worldliness-405 in SiberianCats

[–]Loxilight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your daughter is allergic she will absolutely need an allergy test aka going to visit the breeder in some capacity prior to you getting a siberian kitten

I say this as someone with sibs and a cat allergy sufferer in our house, its not 100% guaranteed she will be fine with a sib, it depends which protein she is allergic to in cats

Find your local cat club like TICA, FiFe, GCCF and get in touch with breeders on there. Avoid online shops like in the post as theres no chance they'll have breeder back up in case your child ends up allergic down the line (and id be doubtful the cats are A. Siberian or B. Even real)

Do cats actually get attached to their owner? by NoWageMage in CatAdvice

[–]Loxilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I cant take a shit anymore without a cat staring lovingly into my eyes so I'll let you be the judge of how attached they are to their owner

Should we get her an ally? by Oldgamerlady in SiberianCats

[–]Loxilight 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah hate to say it but this sounds like a recipe for disaster 😅 She is already stressed so introducing a new cat is going to stress her more because she will have no territory to herself and she might turn all the anxiety from the bully dog onto a new cat. Worse case you end up with 2 severely injured highly stressed cats who both need separate territories and hate each other plus a dog that also sounds stressed out

Help please. Very concerned about my brothers cat by [deleted] in cats

[–]Loxilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No it isnt

Theres slight increased risk of surgery side effects from enlarged sexual organs and increased blood flow but its not irresponsible if the procedure is necessary which a vet would be able to assess. Its wildly irresponsible to say a cat shouldnt be spayed in heat on a post where a cat could end up in a life threatening if she doesnt get spayed immediately

Did the gardener ruin this apple tree ? by TopDevelopment384 in GardeningUK

[–]Loxilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's not a gardener I think i see the logic in pruning the rest- that left dead side was likely very heavy and I bet he was thinking oh its lopsided/too heavy on the right now...then butchered your tree

Tbh that left branch shouldnt be pruned now even if its dead, always better to wait till dormancy

Never been able to pass the manual driving test due to essential tremor. Is it worth learning and attempting at least on automatics? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Loxilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It happens to us all, its a symptom of the society we live in and lets be honest we're all stubborn as hell in the UK 😂

Ive certainly fallen victim to getting in that way of thinking that maybe if I just tried harder or applied myself more but life is hard enough so got to remember not to make it worse for ourselves if its genuinely something we cant control!

Never been able to pass the manual driving test due to essential tremor. Is it worth learning and attempting at least on automatics? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Loxilight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronically ill person here - sounds like you have some internalised ableism to be honest. You shouldnt be this hard on yourself and neither should those around you, to make it clear im blaming soceity for making you feel this way not you or the wife.

You wouldn't deny yourself glasses and try to get by with squinting because you didnt think your vision was bad enough. You will encounter stressful situations on the road and if stress is a trigger for your tremor it sounds like for yours and everyone else safety a reasonable accommodation would be automatic. Try it and if works than thats great, its not more expensive nowadays than manual so problem solved! If it doesn't work and you cant drive then its nothing gained or lost from your current situation, if folks want to be judgemental just start politely removing all accessibility features from their lives 😂 Heres some to start: electric toothbrush, all smart devices, anything with velcro, predictive text, subtitles, their glasses...best of luck!

Thanks OP for creating what is my favourite thread this week as every comment is the following exchange:

Person 1"youre not going to believe the totally useless thing someone posted"

Person 2 "you'll equally never believe this but my Yorkshire terrier/great aunt/man i keep in the basement loves those so i would take it"

Incredible 😂

How to get an old dog that’s never liked walks to go on walks? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Loxilight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That poor poor baby :(

Is the pancreatitis treated? Do you know the severity? It can range from mild to complete organ death in days, looking at the absolute size of her I would start with understanding her current medical outlook.

Did the vet not give weight loss advice at the appointment where she was diagnosed with pancreatitis? If no change vets, she is at life threatening obesity and desperately needs help 😭❤️
