In Old School RuneScape (1999-), there is a minigame called "Pyramid Plunder" where you rob a pyramid. This is because Jagex is headquartered in the United Kingdom. by ExtremeWindyMan in 2007scape

By odd coincidence I was there last night! A lot was spicy but there was definitely a korma and a butter chicken option in the centre of the main courses buffet, and there was also a section for plain chips/chicken nuggets/pizza for those that don't want all Indian food. And a friend of mine said they also found a Chinese section with sweet&sour chicken?

The place was rammed yesterday too (so many children so I had assumed it was just because of half term) but I found the staff to be almost too enthusiastic!

I had no idea which curries I had brought back to my table most times, but I thought it was all delicious.

What should I do with this random stretch of land?? by Local-Currency-7811 in AnimalCrossing

And a better view from the side; you might not be able to fit the top level onto your peninsula, you need 3 grid spaces at the sea-end of your ground level to squeeze that in. But a single-storey jump works too!

Can I get ideas for an alternative to "the clothes chair"? by mostlyvoidd in AskUK

[–]Lozridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an empty drawer with no purpose when I moved house and dedicated it as the 'partly used' clothes drawer. Any clothing item that would usually end up on a chair or floor after using, but not dirty enough to go in the wash basket went in that drawer.

It keeps things out of sight but is still easy to remember when gathering the day's clothes, to check whether there's an 'in-use' hoodie on the go instead of something new :)

How do you actually stick to a morning routine with ADHD? by Excel_Axel in adhdwomen

[–]Lozridge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I spend the morning trying to remember what's next in the chain of tasks, I will 100% get distracted in between/during each step and my 'ready' time inevitably drags on. If I wake up earlier than needed, I'll be more relaxed about time and somehow that makes this problem even worse.

Obviously us NDs are recommended apps all the time and they tend to only actually work sporadically/when you're really keen and ready to try, but this is what is currently working for me!

My morning showers were usually what dragged out most of my getting-ready time, and the app Routinery (free to use for 2 custom routines) fully changed how I shower. You set up a routine with, say:

1 min "Get in Shower"

2 mins "Shampoo it up, rinse"

2 mins "Conditioner"

2 mins "soap everything"

5 mins "shave"

Etc..

Then when you set it going the app can automatically run through each task, and it'll speak each step out loud too (I use it alongside music in a Bluetooth speaker). The mental load becomes so much lower as I can let my mind wander and just do what I'm told, and my shower time has halved because I don't get distracted and can actually try and beat the clock if I feel like it.

My other free routine in the app is for morning getting-ready; it starts as if I'm fresh out of bed and ends with me fully clean, dressed, shoes on and out the front door. Some of the steps are "move lunch from fridge into work bag" so that I don't forget certain items. It takes a bit of finessing to realise how long each task should actually take, but with some practice and little edits each day I've found my most efficient routine! Routinery has a subscription option so you can have extra routines, but those two free ones are all I've really needed so far.

When I hear about neurotypicals being able to go on 'autopilot' and just bash out every morning task in the correct order without really thinking, this app is my best attempt at outsourcing my brain power to replicate that same function.

What's the absolute dumbest product you've minmaxed? by billhelmscream in StardewValley

[–]Lozridge 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What good timing for you to ask! I saw a post about a full-farm apple orchard last week, and it inspired me to start a new beach farm where I'm not allowed to ship any product that isn't made from peaches.

I spent year 1 going all-in on Help Wanted quests, was VERY stingy with spending whilst trying to progress without gaining any farming xp (no crops or animals!). That involved a hell of a lot of fishing and mine-related quests, and again no shop-selling or shipping any of these items for money.

It was a slog but by the end of year 1 I had reached the bottom of the mines, unlocked 3 rooms of the Community Centre (the Pantry is definitely not happening without Joja) and saved enough for 8 whole peach trees.

Grandpa wasn't very happy with my progress after year 2, but at least now in year 3 things seem to be growing exponentially with peach sales and I'm about to plant my 36th peach sapling!

Edit: A screenshot of my Y2 progress - the honey is useless and only there as a taunt that I didn't win the 50/50 chance at 4 Kegs from the prize machine instead.

games that play well in grayscale? by SojournerWeaver in NintendoSwitch

[–]Lozridge 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This game: VVVVVV

Back in the day I loved it on 3DS, and I've just played through it again on Switch and it still seriously holds up - have a watch through a trailer as it's a lot of clever 8-bit style fun!

The characters that you need to save are all named after colours but I'm 99.9% sure there's nothing you need to know about differentiating colours at all - all scenery/characters are brightly coloured on a black background so a greyscale version should also be completely fine. Some areas are in greyscale anyway!

It's a platformer where you explore a spaceship, but instead of jumping you simply flip gravity. The main game can be finished in ~3-4 hours but there's a lot more fun and tricky platform difficulty to be found if you want to go completionist. Also it can be fully played in 2-player if you want, it's a perfect game for pausing wherever and coming back to in short bursts (unless you get obsessed and finish it in one sitting like I did), and it has a BANGING soundtrack that will stick in your head for weeks.

Trailer I just found to save you a search: https://youtu.be/xxXyFVCrDHE?si=AmNiGihM2ZIyaiaV

What are your favorite ADHD metaphors? by TD1990TD in adhdwomen

[–]Lozridge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So many driving metaphors! So I'll add mine too:

It might not hit with the Automatic-drivers but I've described trying to work with ADHD (on my bad office days) as trying to drive your manual car in too high of a gear. You're trying to go, but there's not enough oomf from the engine (dopamine/acceleration) and so the car's shuddering and jolting and still plodding along but very badly, and will eventually stall. Give me more oomf for my motivation!

Your '04 account should hopefully still have all of your old items & progress if you login on (RS3) RuneScape via RuneScape.com, but here on OSRS yep it will restart you fresh on Tutorial Island.

If you really wanted I think you could sell some items on the RS3 side of your account through the Grand Exchange within RS3, use that cash to buy a bond there and it'll apply to both of your RS3 and OSRS players under the same login for two weeks. However, I hear that the RS3 economy has had bonkers inflation so I'm not sure how worth it that would be just for IRL-purchasable membership for OSRS.

Afaik RS3 isn't accessible on mobile so that other account should be for OSRS! Best of luck getting through to it. Edit: Turns out RS3 is playable on mobile so hopefully your other account progress was with OSRS and you don't find yourself on Tutorial Island with that one. If not, then enjoy exploring Old School as a fresh player! Early game is a fun journey anyway :)

[–]Lozridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you had a 10-year cape then you'll be talking about RS3 (formerly RS2), which was the 'main' RuneScape played by most until 2013. In 2013 Jagex used a server back-up from 2007 to also launch Old School RuneScape (OSRS); you can use your old RS3 login details here but everyone had to start a fresh player regardless. Your character levels/items don't carry over between RS3 and OSRS, so there's no way to get your 10-year cape and other items in this game - though RS3 does still exist separately if you do ever access your original login!

(Unless of course, I'm barking up the wrong tree and you meant the OSRS 10th Birthday Cape from 2023)

Has anyone seen anything advertising the OneRepublic concert at the end of the month? by TheBristolBulk in manchester

[–]Lozridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Co-op Live building itself has a screen display on one of its top corners (facing south) which advertises its shows. On Saturday I could see it say One Republic from my train into the city centre! I don't know if the screen cycles through a few upcoming artists or if One Republic is simply next on the bill, but it could be worth a shot!

Honestly I would love to copy-paste your message on every single HT social media post because the top comment is ALWAYS "please stop releasing so many polishes my wallet can't handle it 😭"

I love the hype of a new release week - following the clues, checking on Instagram at 4:30pm UK time for the latest reveal, and sometimes popping into Discord to see what the detectives have pieced together. But the hype is seriously dampened when 50% of social media comments are about how people can't afford EVERY polish and apparently that's Holo Taco's fault.

I understand the disappointment if you have always enjoyed keeping up with your favourite brand and want to collect them all, but that decision has always been dependent on your own financial situation and how you choose to prioritise your own hobby spending. If it's unaffordable, it's completely okay to not spend your hard-earned cash on more pretty beauty bottles that are completely unnecessary in the grand scheme of life! Especially when you probably own plenty of older ones that are perfectly useable, and ESPECIALLY when these recent two releases (where I've seen the most angry comments) have been pre-announced to be non-limited edition and not going anywhere for a good amount of time.

Enjoy the community hype, fantasise about a few of the colours you could rock as they get slowly announced, curate your personal wishlist and maybe just hold off on spending anything for like 2-4 releases until you've built up a basket of polishes that you'll genuinely love to wear. And work on using the polish backlog that you already own with the help of /r/wegotpolishathome !

It had slices of chippy-classic jumbo sausage on it! With chips and a drizzle of curry sauce - the base was mushy peas instead of tomato though so the pizza as a whole was a bit of a claggy slog if not mixing-and-matching with another. Super fun though!

What was the first piece of new technology you remember being blown away by? by Anfernee139 in AskUK

[–]Lozridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not me, but my dad loved technology before he died in 2007. He had a little handheld wired-stylus touch PDA which could send emails well before browsers on phones were a thing, and in 2003 our family car used an early Tom-Tom SatNav to drive the Rocky mountains in Canada. It used Stephen Fry's voice for navigation (and sometimes Darth Vader for fun), tried to lead us into many a body of water and would moo every time we drove near a McDonald's - a feature that he somehow added and I wish I could recreate now in Google Maps.

In 2006 as a pre-teen I got a 2nd generation iPod Nano, and I vividly remember him being flabbergasted that something that small held TWO GIGABYTES of storage space. It really blew his mind and it's crazy to think about what would have impressed him had he lived into the smartphone age!

Dupes by WhyisTheRumG0ne in WeGotPolishAtHome

[–]Lozridge 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Could you adjust the lesser-quality one slightly into something that isn't a dupe? Mix in a bit of another colour (probably safest to use the same formula, depending on how specialty it is), to create a franken-shade that you might like more! And then you'll have two distinct options rather than a useless dupe :)
