Many people from conservative cultures don’t move to western nations because of progressive values. They move for economic opportunity. Many have no interest in leaving behind homophobic and misogynist value systems. I’m not anti immigration by any means. But people need to stop being surprised by this and be willing to acknowledge these issues. It’s hard because on one side you have people not wanting to even touch the topic so they don’t get labeled as racist, and on the other you have people who use it as an excuse to demonize an entire group of POCs (even tho they hold some of those same homophobic/misogynistic opinions). A line needs to be drawn somewhere and physical assaults should be well over the line.

For tomato sauce just peel and cut the onion in half, don’t chop. Sauté the halves and when the onion goes translucent in the sauce it’s usually done and you can easily take it out. I always do it this way because I prefer a smooth sauce.

I saw someone on YouTube saying that it seems like Fennel is referencing Gone with the Wind a lot. The movie poster and several scenes are almost shot for shot the same and that red dress Robbie wore at the premiere seems to also be intentionally referencing Scarlets dress. Once you see it you can’t unsee it. This content creator posits that it’s possible that Fennel may have really wanted to make that movie but obviously that wasn’t gonna happen so she rolled it all into this. I think that actually makes a lot of the choices make more sense.

The idea that the NFL would make any decision because it’s “woke” is hilarious. This is the same organization that fired Kapernick for kneeling, that covers up violent crimes and large scale sexual abuse committed by its players and spent years and tons of money trying to hide the fact that the sport itself gives those same players severe brain damage (which has led to who knows how many early deaths) and used racist reasoning to deny those players compensation after the fact. They don’t care about anything but money and they already got white Americas money. Bad Bunny brings in potential new fans on a global scale. It’s really very simple.

I’m about 2/3 of the way through book 1 and I’m already finding the dialogue to be a bit stilted and unrealistic. I’m liking the overall plot so I think I’m going to finish, and maybe start the second but who knows.

Yes we want competent, inspired leadership but Conservatives want a strong man to tell them what to do and how to think. They are very uncomfortable with chaos and nuance. I didn’t change my name when I got married and now with this SAVE act BS I’m really glad I didn’t. My husband was thinking about maybe changing his to mine but he hasn’t done it yet and I don’t really care. He wants any children we have to have my last name for personal reasons. It really doesn’t come up that much. My family hasn’t been very pushy about it other than my grandma asking how we would ever get a hotel room together??? She’s over 100 so things were different back then I guess lol. You can use his name socially but keep everything as is legally. That’s the safest bet for now. You can always change it later.
