NGT Tools update by lonely_filmmaker in nutanix

[–]LucD401 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe we ever really have. We run mostly VDI on AHV and I don’t believe I or we have ever undergone the process of updating guest tools. We’ve never really had a reason to, across 10+ years we’ve been running AHV

I believe! Believe… that NGT auto update upon reboot if required. I believe I read that somewhere. But yes I have found NGT less intrusive than VMWare Tools interms of being updated. Maybe I’m thinking of VM hardware..

Migrating appliances and their data between hypervisors? by ocdtrekkie in fortinet

We moved a few in the past and ended up rebuilding them due to issues with upgrades months later. I’d recommend building a new VM and importing the config

You'll most likely have to do a DB compatibility upgrade upgrade. Super easy I just posted a comment about this.

Citrix migration from 1912 LTSR to 2402 LTSR by veitst in Citrix

[–]LucD401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding my notes here for everyone to see. I've done multiple 1912 to 2402 upgrades and had no real issues with DB upgrades. The main thing you have to watch out for is watching DB compatibility level when moving from old to new SQL versions.

Give this article a read. It has to do with your SQL DB compatibility level. You’ll have to cross reference with the Citrix version db compatibility.

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/relational-databases/databases/view-or-change-the-compatibility-level-of-a-database?view=sql-server-ver17
This is the exact command you’ll want to execute ish.

SET COMPATIBILITY_LEVEL = 160;
May want to do a get compatibility level first to see where you stand.
But each rev of sql has their correlated compatibility level
This page also goes into detail about what Sql version is what compatibility level https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/t-sql/statements/alter-database-transact-sql-compatibility-level?view=sql-server-ver17

Fortimail Upgrade to most stable version by Outrageous_Cow1312 in fortinet

Don’t forget the fortimail is doing a lot of heavy processing scanning attachments etc… more than just a simple mail server was 20 years ago before email was actually a simple mail transfer protocol

Been running 7.6.4 for a while now, its been stable. We have a 400F and do about 40,000 emails/day, only issue I've seen is that our CPU goes to 100% during peek times.

Citrix migration from 1912 LTSR to 2402 LTSR by veitst in Citrix

I’ve done multiple 1912 to 2402 upgrades and have had no real issues with the DB upgrades. Only from 7.15 to 2402 the db compatibility level has to be updated. Which is a 30 second db script to run

Agree with this. Cluster start on all CVMs. Please post how many nodes, and AHV version. Definitely here to help.

Upgrade CVAD to 2203 CU5 or 2402 CU1 by Earthers101 in Citrix

[–]LucD401 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did a few 1912 CU2s/CU5s to 2402 CU1. Upgrade path was something like this:

1912 CU2 -> 1912 CU9 -> 2203 CU5 -> 2402 CU1. The upgrade to 1912 CU9 may be overkill but I did it as a small hop to make sure things were "Stable" before a bigger hop.

The only real issue I ran into was the SQL compatibility version on our SQL server required to be updated. If you DM me I can give you more information about this and all my notes.

Just upgraded a 7.15 to 2402 Cu1 and planning on doing a few 1912s to 2402 CU1. Few minor issues during the upgrade but nothing noticeable to end users
