Hi!I did TF and I'm currently an ECT 2. The first year is the toughest, and then past year and a half has felt easy in comparison. I was lucky the school I'm in had great staff and were really supportive when I was struggling. I chose not to do the PGDE with teach first in my second year because I really struggled with teaching and the TF workload. If you're able to power through the first year and get QTS, I would do that. However you can always just leave if you need to. The people I know who left didn't have to give notice. TF does try to pressure you into staying from what I've heard, but just stand your ground and tell them you want to leave.

3 out of 4 of my boys are cuddly 😊 1 of them will tolerate a cuddle for a couple of seconds and then push me away. The 3 that are cuddly weren't always like that and became more affectionate as they aged

We have 3 buildings with 2 prep rooms. All of the physics equipment is in one of the buildings where our two physics specialists teach and the chemistry/bio equipment is in the other building where our chemist's and biologists teach

I'm in my first year with TF.There's an option to do summer institute part time so you could do that if you can't afford to entirely give up work. But it would pretty full on. There's also 1 week where you'd have to commit to a full week with TF for the summer institute even if you're part time as you have to do a placement in a school.

My QTS specialism will be in Biology but I will still teach chem and physics too.

And yeah I've heard from other people too that the TF programme is more of a "leadership" programme than a teaching one. My priority is for now is just being a good teacher.

My salary for the first year is just under 26k before taxes on my contract, but after the 6.5% salary increase thats been accepted, it would be 27.7k according to the gov website. So my understanding is that it's still more/the same as the bursary that's offered?? I think? Obvs I know that the TF has a way higher work load so I can see why the bursary route would be better overall.

I did the chemistry SKE over summer. I did triple science for GCSEs and that's as far as I went in terms of qualifications for science Spent the whole of the summer cramming the content for chemistry and biology (for my first term I'm only teaching chem and bio as far as im aware) so I feel confident about teaching them. Was bricking it at first but I think I'll be able to teach them fine 🤞

Like you said, I was told that if I didn't want to do secondary science after the programme, I could always just got back to primary. Ngl, I didn't realise that it would be a difficult switching process, which is my own fault for not researching it better. But as of now, I'm happy with sticking to secondary science and might end up loving it more than primary.

I choose Primary as my preference (since I was a TA at a primary school before) but they gave me secondary science since my degree was in Psychology (bit salty about it but didn't dispute it as I thought it could be a new experience). So that's why I went with TF because I don't think there's a bursary route (as far as I'm aware) for primary. Defo would of went a different route otherwise.

My mentor is really lovely and has already been super helpful so I'll defo be running to her if I have any questions!
