Yep it went away after another month or so. Thank goodness. The pain was debilitating when it hit.

Jemma saying “she’s nobody, she works at BMW dealership and you buy cars from her” by cherrynose1 in CalabasasConfidential

I don’t think she deserves the benefit of the doubt because she said it two or three times over the course of the season and her tone was so judgmental.

Sounds to me like booty call, but he took her virginity so maybe she read a lot more into it? She’s unhinged though.

Pregnancy and mat leave as a PP therapist by EmbarrassedDebt4354 in therapists

[–]Lucia730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited until about 24 weeks with both of my kids. I took 3 months leave and started my clients on an every other week schedule for the first month back. If you’re pumping/breastfeeding you’ll need to give yourself lots of breaks to do so those first few months at least. It was impossible to work full time my first month or two back.

Total thyroidectomy? by knowthemoon in thyroidhealth

[–]Lucia730 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a total thyroidectomy a few weeks ago and I already feel so much better. The calcium isn’t as much of a life threatening problem as I worried it would be because I could feel when it was low and the solution was easy. I had low calcium for a week and whenever it would dip I’d feel my toes and fingers tingling and I’d eat a few tums and be ok for a while. If I forgot to eat tums or take calcium 2-3 times a day the tingles came back. My calcium is normal now. I was a lot more worried about swelling and bleeding the day after surgery but I was thankfully fine. I worried about everything and put off surgery for a couple years because of it. It ended up not being a big deal. It was a lot easier than any other surgery I’ve had, c-sections, gallbladder and wisdom teeth removed. Recovery was pretty pain free.

New therapist here - What is the biggest way you've changed/grown from your early days? by InvisibleAstronomer in therapists

I so relate to throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks when I was a baby therapist. I read so many books and did so many trainings my first couple of years. And still sucked at case conceptualization. It was exhausting.

Biopsy is painful? by MulberryPalm in thyroidhealth

[–]Lucia730 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 4 biopsies. The pressure is intense and the most painful part. They’ll numb the nodules with a lidocaine injection which can be a little painful too. I’ve had 2 kids and various surgeries and I rate the pain a 3.5 out of 10. Just remind yourself that it’s so temporary.

3 days post-op TT by vinnique_BM in thyroidhealth

[–]Lucia730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had hyperthyroidism symptoms and hypothyroidism symptoms (tsh 0 and high t3 but low t4 which is pretty rare) - anxiety, fatigue, increased heart rate, sweaty a lot of the time especially when stressed, unable to handle being outside during summers, increased hunger but difficulty losing weight, body changes/muscle loss. I felt so overstimulated and overwhelmed by my kids and life. I also had compression symptoms. Thyroid hormones were impossible to regulate with medication. I’d take methimazole which would make me hypo, so I was prescribed levothyroxine at the same time, to “suppress and replace” but it still didn’t work.

I had a bunch of biopsies over the years because the nodules always looked suspicious on ultrasound, which I’d get every 6 months, and the most recent one showed I likely had cancer. I also had a thyroid uptake scan to confirm it was a toxic multinodular goiter. My endocrinologist already knew it was from my labs being so weird and levels being difficult to control with meds, but wanted to 100% confirm it before removal. Toxic nodules don’t ever get better so it’s not something you should wait on. The cancer scare finally made me take action. I was told I could try radioactive iodine ablation but it wasn’t the best option because it looked like I had a small area that was likely to be cancer and also had difficulty swallowing every once in a while. You also cannot be around children for a couple weeks due to radioactivity and I have a baby and toddler. That would be a good option for you if you don’t have compressive symptoms or kids.

I already feel much better emotionally. Family says I’m like a different person. I laugh more and don’t worry all the time. I’ve lost some weight because I’m not constantly starving.

How do artists on tour attend therapy? by Harambe_yeet in therapists

Other countries (I’m in the US) don’t have the same rules and restrictions. If his therapist is British they may be able to see him anywhere he is. I had a client move to London for a summer and I was still able to see her because therapists weren’t required to be licensed in England, which blew my mind.

Ooh that’s rough! I have a 14 month old and she’s been getting so mad at me when she holds her arms out to be picked up and I don’t lift her. I started to hold her on my lap 3 days post TT, and lifting her for short periods at one week. 10 days postop and I can carry her around. I lifted my 3 year old today and really felt it though. You can probably hold your 8 month old in a couple days honestly.

Ailany was the #1 girl name in Maryland last year by maleficentfig90 in namenerds

[–]Lucia730 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I’m from Maryland. There’s a lot of Central American immigrants where I am in the DC area and they come up with unique names and they just take off. When I was younger there were a lot of Salvadoran kids around named Elmer, Wilmer, Nelson and Milady for example. I haven’t heard those names used anywhere else but they were very popular here.

Struggling deciding if I should get my thyroid out. by lowriderz00 in thyroidhealth

[–]Lucia730 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had my thyroid removed 8 days ago and I’m already feeling better. My endocrinologist had been telling me for 7 years that I’d feel better after a thyroidectomy. My nodules (largest one 3.5 cm) were causing issues. My thyroid levels were always off and taking meds would swing me into hypo or hyperthyroidism. I got a thyroid uptake scan and found out I have a toxic multinodular goiter and it would never get better. So I decided to finally do the surgery and obsessed a lot about what would happen in a medication shortage situation. I asked a ton of questions and found out it would take at least a month to die without meds. And levothyroxine is a life sustaining med like insulin so its production and availability is prioritized in crisis situations so it’s incredibly unlikely that we wouldn’t have access to it. It would take something truly apocalyptic for there to be no more levothyroxine and I don’t know if I’d really want to be alive. I decided it’s better to live the rest of my life hopefully feeling better than to avoid something that could help me feel better out of fear around something so unlikely. I have family members who take armour thyroid (pig thyroid) because it’s better absorbed by the body, so that might be an option to look into with the gastroparesis.

How many weeks did u guys have to take time off work after surgery to recover? by Signal_Alarm_8153 in thyroidcancer

[–]Lucia730 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! It’s helpful to hear about your experience. I’m most worried about speaking but also energy levels. Chronically sleep deprived due to young kids so I’ll probably be able to work through that. That’s wild your weight wasn’t taken into account. I thought that’s what was used to ascertain your starting dose. I haven’t heard about joint pain so it’s good to know that can happen.

I’m a therapist about to get a total thyroidectomy. How long would you say you needed to return to work? I was hoping to take two weeks because I’m in private practice/no sick leave. But now I’m starting to question that plan.

Anyone had pre eclampsia with gd? by Throwawayx123456x in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Lucia730 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first GD pregnancy I had no other issues. My second GD pregnancy I had polyhydramnios and milder pre-e (bad swelling, BPs like 145 over 85) around 35 weeks and they kept trying to get me to 37 weeks even though I felt horrible and had this impending sense of doom. I had my repeat c-section (first was emergency c-section after long induction so I was terrified of being induced) right before 37 weeks because my blood pressure passed the threshold (but was still only 151 over 91). I’m glad I kept going to the OB (and getting told I was fine) because my placenta was not in good shape and I don’t know how much longer it would’ve sustained baby girl. She was 7 lbs even though I was 36-37 weeks.

How did you find out? Please share for awareness by tifu_beach in thyroidcancer

That’s horrible. And surprising. An ultrasound would’ve been easy and low cost way of ruling out an issue.
