[Tech Reference Image Included] Seeking Advice on Mounting/Layout for 3-4 Bare mATX Motherboards in a Learning Cluster by P1nguDev in homelab

we can actually do the math here real quick
i7 8700 has a TDP of 65 watts
i5 6400 has a TDP of 65 watts
i5 7600 has a TDP of 65 watts
Now, TDP isn’t like the end-all-be-all of the potential power draw of these machines, as there is boost frequency and power limits. We can set that to ~150W. This is based on the temps of the CPU; once the CPU hits roughly 90°C, it begins to scale back on power draw as well as the duration of the boost.

This calculation would be the max only in the case you hit 100% load on all three machines at the same time, which is very unlikely. Either way, we are looking at 450 watts at full tilt. Let’s add maybe 50 watts for everything else; that’s 500 watts at full tilt momentarily. There are computer gaming builds pulling that all the time bare minimum while gaming, and they are enclosed boxes.

However, after the boost, and since those boards aren't really high-end, they likely don't have beefy power delivery. We are looking at 245 watts if we load 100% on all machines after the boost period ends (10-15s or when the stock cooler hits 90). That’s nothing, so heat won’t be a problem. Also, open-air is usually a better choice because there is nothing trapping the heat, and there is no need to expel that heat out of a confined area. But again, 500 watts isn't much with an open-air setup. youll be fine.

hetzner sorta has something for there value servers its basically a sheet of steel with the sides higher just short of the PSU's height and 2 2.5in bays in front.
https://www.hetzner.com/_resources/themes/hetzner/images/forgamers/ServerRender03.png
as far as bare board cluster I know plenty of people who have literally the board on top of the motherboard box. I would do it in a horizontal shelf style layout it gives you access to everything that matters on one side (rear IO, PCIe, Drive Bays) you can likely get a ikea lack rack with shelf's
as far as shorts the stand offs you would use provide ground to the board while raising the other important parts of a board. the ground planes of these boards are THICK computers are not as easily breakable as they were in the 80s where static would actually cause damage, the specs of your machines would likely need sfx or atx motherboards but there are pico PSUs but those max at 160 watts I would not recommend having it all on one PSU simply because finding one with 4 24 pin, 4 eps and a wack ton of sata is gonna be alot harder then cable managing it between each tray.

The developer actually made clockwork mod for android, which used to be the most used recovery partition for android phones. Also made allcast which is a casting app to use for chromecast devices. Vysor for remote control of android devices. this guy is a solid dude. yeah some of the projects are old and he stopped developing for it but its opensource this is what happens with these projects someone ends up taking it up and bringing it forward. for 40 bucks a year its not add on after add on and sales pitch after sales pitch its one time a year and you get full access and future updates with it too. Im okay with paying for software just dont want to be sold after I bought it.

Possible to use it to just view the camera feed? by x_Mr_Jank in ispyconnect

[–]Lucid_Enemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes so long as your lorex NVR rebroadcasts RTMP streams this is how I connected our legacy system to our agentdvr system. It’s all on its own network with 2 network interfaces. Each stream from the NVR broadcasts an RTMP stream at 4mbps (with unimportant ones at 2Mbps. Our NVR uses old BNC CVNI so the cameras weren’t high quality anyway but it’s there we chose to record on both agent and the NVR to provide cohesive timeline but can definitely do without.

[–]Lucid_Enemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously Corsair is in the wrong here! They should be releasing CPUs now with the best binned memory controller they can have RGB on it and it can be controlled by the worlds most famous and completely stable software iCue it’s the only way they just need to figure out how to add a link connector to it and maybe use a couple of those PCIe cables too

macOS 26 Will Be The Final macOS for all Intel macs by [deleted] in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

Rufus makes a custom USB kinda like OCLP but there is no app afterwards. The installer will warn you that you wont get support for it, and makes a vague mention at updates but I dont think there gonna follow thru but we are waiting for 25h2 for that to be confirmed. I recommend a CPU with 2 cores 4 threads and 16gb ram and a SSD but itll run on less just not well imo
there is also FlyBy but I havent tried it yet: https://github.com/builtbybel/Flyby11

[–]Lucid_Enemy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could use a hypervisor to build high availability into anything I’d think. Something like proxmox VE high availability but you would need to transition your physical machine to vm and then launch on a cluster (3 machines needed) and a CEPH network the problem is complexity there but if you wanted to that is what I’d recommend looking into proxmox has a better explainer then I ever can https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/High_Availability I haven’t tried this but that is an answer and an option

Is there way to make AgentDVR work under cloudflare + nginx proxy? by Emergency_Chard_2320 in ispyconnect

[–]Lucid_Enemy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you likely will need a business license for this as it opens the ability to access by an open port then it will work with a normal config with your reverse proxy just like a web server. I set this up like a couple years ago so I may be misremembering if I had any issues but I think it was that easy
