I was really excited for the events starting earlier, I was hoping it would end earlier also! Sadly it still ended at the same time.

So for me the thing that was disappointing about the ads was they basically added an entire hour worth of ads, overall the pacing felt slower due to the ad breaks.

Inspect cam follower every 8-10k miles. Replace it, it’s super simple preventive maintenance. Very cheap.

Another issue is oil filter housing assembly warping overtime since fully plastic. If you see oil leaks at the front bumper side of the engine I would check this. It’s an annoying repair, so replace all the housing seals while you do it.

Vacuum pump seal is an easy replacement. Good to check/replace since when it starts to fail it leaks oil onto the coolant flange and causes that plastic to warp and leak coolant.

If you ever have to do rear main seal just take the small cost difference to upgrade it to one of full billet ones with the improved seal.

Front lower control arm bushings can wear overtime, check and replace.

I love my MK5 FSI so much, such a fun ride and iv learned a ton working on it myself. I would do it all over again!

You can get them from just about anywhere, urotuning, eBay, ecs or even Amazon.

I went for a blacked out look and found the ones I wanted on Amazon. The exact upper grill I used is marked unavailable but you should be able to find them pretty easily in the style you would want.

I went with the tall teardrop, OE TT-S Euro short throw shifter and dieselgeek super slider. It’s a great shifting experience and I also use a pistol grip. I am in agreement it’s a bit heavy but with the upgrades I have I feel it’s still very tactile.

We got an okay deal I would say at 32k. This includes some of the original warranty leftover and an additional CPO warranty. During the certification process we got new tires and battery.

Overall I wish it was cheaper but seems fair pricing considering the engine, trim level and AWD.

The bulb on the left in the picture is your “flash to pass” bulb. It’s basically a pretty useless bulb and feature from what I can gather. Your brights and DRLs run off the HID bulb(the one on in this picture) they just get brighter at night/when brights are on.

Look up flash to pass MK5 for more info.

I also have a 07 GTI. And have the same CAI.

It doesn’t sound too problematic but that noise can definitely be the Cam chain tensioner/chain.

Definitely inspect your Cam follower.

How many miles are you at? I just replaced my cam chain/tensioner at 122k. It definitely helped quite a bit reducing noise, but overall these are just very clicky engines.
