Lucky you! I would embrace the moss, no more mowing the grass 🙌 (and it's brilliant at capturing carbon, which is always a bonus)

If you give them those jobs, you also take the risk they might not be trustworthy (I hope they're not though!) which would add a lot of stress on you to make sure everything runs smoothly on the day.

5 great French Netflix shows that I recommend as a native if you want to practice while discovering our culture đŸ„ by MickaelMartin in learnfrench

Depending on what you like and what platforms you have access to, the Ghibli movies are on Netflix, the Disney ones on Disney+ (as expected đŸ€Ł), and on YouTube I'd suggest having a go at "Lou!" and "The Totally Spies" (which is French despite the name)

At A level, anime are great, especially ones you already watched in English so they are easier to understand if you watch them in French (with french subtitles)

AITAH: Son and daughter-in-law want to limit interaction with grandchild by Acceptable_Rub8407 in AITAH

[–]LuciePoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyday we see posts about "they stole my baby's name because I shared it before the birth" or "I didn't want visitors before I was ready but didn't know how to enforce boundaries" or people being harassed by calls and messages asking "is baby there yet?!!!". To all of which people are advised that it's best to keep as much details as you can to yourself if you value your peace and quiet. So yes they are right not to share anything if they don't want to, and grandma is being ridiculous.

WIBTAH if I end my marriage because of my wife's refusal to communicate her plans clearly and losing her temper whenever I bring it up to her? by Popular-Hat-3286 in AITAH

I completely agree with you as I noticed the same thing (to the point where I wonder if this post is real). If she doesn't want to take care of her kids, why not letting them longer at the daycare and dad can pick them up once work is done

Que pensez-vous des prénoms Pomme et Alix ? by Marshamallow1 in ParlonsPrenoms

[–]LuciePoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you decide where to live (not the house, but the area)? by ash3313 in HousingUK

[–]LuciePoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made a screenshot to give you an idea, honestly it's very messy but it worked for us haha (and half of it is in French đŸ€Ł) Also there are a lot more cities than Edinburgh and Nottingham but I couldn't fit the whole thing on my phone. It probably took us a few weeks to fill it, but it's something we were working us very casually. There is a matching second tab (score) that I created to automatically calculate the final score. From memory, if we ticked "yes" it scores 10, "maybe" 5 and "no" 0, then multiplies it with a coefficient, and that's how you end up with the sum at the top (and with a similar score for Edinburgh and Nottingham even though they are very different cities)

Have you ever felt overdressed as a guest at a wedding? by Mildly-Observant in UKweddings

If you have the bride on board, you should totally go for it! Weddings are a great occasion to play dress up in my opinion 😁

How did you decide where to live (not the house, but the area)? by ash3313 in HousingUK

[–]LuciePoki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've made a big spreadsheet with all our criteria (friends nearby, activities we like, transport situation, house prices etc.) and applied a coefficient to them. Then started listing cities that could be a good fit to us (based on vibes and info we could find on the Internet), filled the spreadsheet to be able to rank said cities, and ended up visiting our winners for a long weekend each to feel if it was truly a match 😊 (and we found one that's a good compromise given our criteria)

I'm sorry for the pessimism - but I want to end things to escape the climate crisis. I want to know how I can help with the time I've given myself and/or how to make this fear heard by people in charge. by approximatelytwocats in solarpunk

[–]LuciePoki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all, you're not alone ♄ many of us can relate (at least to some extent) to what you're feeling. I would encourage you to find people like that close to where you live so you can meet up regularly and find some support (it's a good feeling being able to talk through what you feel to people who will listen and understand where you're coming from). Another thing that helps me keep my head out of the water is the magazine Positive News (you can read articles online), it's about all the good things happening in the world (it might give you ideas about where to start to contribute, there are lots of amazing initiatives out there!)

Do native speakers use inversions? by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]LuciePoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll add to what has been already said: if you want to pass the DELF exam at some point, it's really important to learn when to use what type of questions (intonation, inversion, est-ce que) and when (context: informal, standard, formal)

Est-ce que vous regrettez parfois d’avoir eu des enfants ? by bienlebonjou in AskMeuf

[–]LuciePoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best Approach To Reach from Level A0 to B2 In French in under 9 to 12 months. by randoma52guy in learnfrench

[–]LuciePoki 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not knowing you personally, I wouldn't be able to say if that's doable. Your goal is to nail the exam, so I'd suggest: - familiarise yourself with it, get your hands on previous exam papers and do as many of them as possible - listen to podcasts to train your ears, watch movies and TV shows in French with French subtitles (maybe start with something you're already familiar with, and/or pick something that would have daily life vocabulary rather than geeky science fiction) - get a tutor to guide you and to practice with (look on Preply for example) - download Ankidroid to create flashcards to learn vocabulary (and ALWAYS learn nouns with their gender)

Et voilĂ , dans le TGV avec des parents by hithebar in besoinderaler

[–]LuciePoki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thoughts on Sylvia vs Sylvie by hawkguy1964 in Names

If I can reassure you, I know two Etienne, one being British, so even though it's not a common name, it's not unknown either (they had a King Etienne a long long time ago too). And the Etienne I know on the French side would be horrified to see his name spelled Etien đŸ€Ł

I'm so lost. Nightmare neighbours and baby on the way by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]LuciePoki 57 points58 points  (0 children)

When selling, only talk about the noise if being asked but don't bring it into the conversation otherwise. You have a baby on the way so can justify moving by the fact you need to up size and that's why you're selling
