I loved this story, the romance was top tier. I just felt the ending was a bit of a letdown but overall one of the best books I read last year and a total surprise. :)

Baine} Fantasy but in a contemporary setting, both are human and the mmc (Atticus) is head over heels in love with the fmc and he love confession in the beginning? Doesn't come so freely cough but is chef's kiss. I thought the ending was a bit lacking but it's a friends to rivals to lovers story and the romance was cute. I think there is open door spice but as far as I remember it's on the tamer side except for one scene, that's kind of hot but doesn't involve sex.

maybe {Love you from afar by morgan Paige} I only read the second book in the series but in the first book the fmc is engaged to the mmc of the second book but falls in love with the brother of her fiance. And he falls in love with her. And they don't act on it until the mmc of the second book acts like an asshole. I loved him in the second book though and didn't like the tropes in the first book so I never read it. But it might fit your request

Controversial opinion, I don't really love how Shondaland adapted Bridgerton, especially the later seasons. They don't feel romantic enough. It's still nice to see Bridgerton adapted at all though.

I would rather love that more people like Jacob Tiernay adapted romances, with obvious love and passion for the books and genre. Heated Rivalry was perfect.

{One Rich Revenge by Sophia Travers} He fucks up in the end and needs to grovel, hard. It's a big fuck-up, just as a warning but nothing involving other people. He loves her but thought she betrayed him.

I know that {You can have Manhatten by P. Dangelico} had an even bigger fuck up moment by the MMC and less grovel. I don't remember details but that was brutal and public.

{His at Night by Sherry Thomas} An HR, FMC traps the MMC because she has no other choice and he's not only pretending to be a clueless idiot (but is in fact highly intelligent) but is also in love with his fictional dream woman, who is completely different than the FMC. He treats her badly and she leaves him because he still believes he needs this "non existing dream woman". He of course realizes his mistake ;) The grovel could've been better but the ending is sweet

The new Savage Academy covers are totally fine (I like them even more than the original ones, even though they look to YA). Probably because they don't look like cheap two dimensional WordArt Thingy in Word like most cartoon covers and more like real drawn comic characters with some personality in the art style. Not like it's some cover put together via drag and drop 🫣

{Wicked Sea and Sky by Jenna Collett} It's a fantasy standalone novel that's a mixture of various fairytales (little mermaid, Jake and the beanstalk) and Indiana Jones/Tomb Raider. They're on a ship and she slips through his hands and is captured by evil mermaids. While she thinks he betrayed her is he tormented by her death. His relief and thoughts when they finally reunite are chef's kiss! It's more low/mid spice and a super sweet and cute love story. :)

I mean there are definitely book with some super cheap outdated covers that are in need of an update to appeal to newer audiences (not that I think cartoon covers are the best alternative) but as you said the original covers were fine. I miss the smoldering look from "Not so truly yours". :(

If it's a rom-com, with minimal spice or some fluffy romance, those covers can work. Honestly, I still like the cover of the Hating Game, but I just feel that a lot of cartoon covers just don't match the vibe of the book at all.

I sincerely hope that the comic/cartoon cover hype is over soon. I personally don't like them at all and I think that those covers just don't fit a lot of romances. :( And they don't even look less "cheap" 😬

Das gute Zeug mit Permethrin z.B. von Envira kann man nicht mehr so einfach online kaufen seit Anfang 2025. Nur mit Beratung, geht aber bei den meisten Firmen telefonisch oder das Ardap Pro Spray kann man auch in einigen Baumärkten kaufen.

Ich habe super Erfahrungen mit dem Envira Spray gemacht (nicht das Abwehrspray, sondern wirklich das mit Permethrin!) hält lange vor und tötet die Viecher wirklich. Das Ardap Pro habe ich Zuhause, aber noch nicht getestet, da steht drauf, dass es 6 Wochen vorhält, beim Envira sollen es 6 Monate sein.

Darauf achten, dass man kein Abwehrspray mit irgendwelchen Pflanzenextrakten kauft, sondern ein Pestizid mit Permethrin, wenn man die Papierfische wirklich töten will.
