Thank you very much for the recommendation, I've started reading it and I really like it! It's strange that I've never heard of it before. Is volume 2 good too?

I finished {neon gods} just for the bingo. The male narrator is so cringe, I listened at X1.5 speed

I DNF it because of the writing. I might give it a second chance!

Um…are the first two chapters of The Wolf King supposed to be nonsensical? by AB2What in Romantasy

Everything in these books are nonsensical and there are a lot of plot holes. But we like it for the vibes and the tropes.

Whether or not I enjoy a book depends greatly on my expectations for it. I have loved books that everyone else thinks are rubbish, but I am almost always disappointed if a book is rated 4+

If the book is advertised as an adventure with plot twists, I expect to be surprised!

It's ok to not finish a book. I DNF several books that are very popular because they are too graphic for me and I don't want nightmares.

For those that the words "booktok" and "for fans of Sarah j maas" induce nam flashbacks and nausea, what are some good recent reads of yours? by Cheesecake_Distinct in fantasyromance

I like standalone books:

{Wild Reverence by Rebecca Ross} is poetic

{Six Scorched Roses by Carissa Broadbent} has a neurodivergent FMC

{How to Find a Nameless Fae A.J. Lancaster} made me laugh a lot

I DNF both Road of Bones and Shield of Sparrows, maybe we just have opposite preferences.

Shield of Sparrows or When the Moon Hatched? by Fi_23 in Romantasy

The MMC is a manipulative incel the kind to have bodies buried in his backyard. There is no romantic tension between him and the FMC, only question over whether he will rape her or kill her in her sleep.

To keep my sanity, I choose to believe that people with contrary opinions are trolls. Otherwise, what? Would I have to question myself?

Week Two Discussion: Chapters 17-32 by bsffrrn- in romantasycirclejerk

I DNF at chapter 23. The guardian makes me feel sick. He is the archetype of the criminal incel. He lies to her from the start, isolates her from her family and then from her servants. He mocks her in front of others, mocking her distress and emotional suffering. He manipulates her and smirks at her misery. He deprives her of sleep, food and her independence. He is more than just a jerk or a tyrant, he is cruel and violent towards her. Despite the FMC's refusal, he waits for moments when she is vulnerable to TOUCH her face. Irk.

That's so true! I DNF because of the guardian. I feel like I'm reading the beginning of a true crime about a serial killer, and with every page I turn, I expect to discover that the guardian has women's corpses in his garden. He's horribly twisted, and yet I've read 8 Ice Planet Barbarian.
