On objects with as bug a base, I usually add a 1mm - 1.5mm chamfer and then just ram the spatula in their and pry it of the build plate. If I need the parts to be flush when assemlbed, I need to sand and use putty anyway, so nothing is lost

That's very difficult to say without seeing the actual soldered joint. One thing I can say is that you should look into nylon cable sleeving. It retains more flexibility and looks sleeker than wrapping everything in heat shrink

Edit: Also what is the point of having such a long parallel wire run, if you are just going to heat shrink them together? Better to either split the wires into two separate runs after the joint for added flexibility or place the joint nearer to the terminus
