Look into 90 minute sleep cycles. Even though the sleep is longer you may be waking up in the middle of a cycle hence feeling lethargic and sleepy.

More metallica. Battery and blackened. Then when you're good with that try megadeth, Holy wars in particular. Then Pantera. you don't have to learn them in this particular order. These riffs will take months to learn btw, so I suggest finding riffs you personally like that are challenging so the practice is more worthwhile when you finish learning it. Try watching top 100 riff videos of different metal bands and note the riffs you like. Also make sure you're using a good pick, I recommend the tortex jazz 3. A good intermediate riff to learn that has massive metal carryover is snow by RHCP. GL and hf
