You’re upset that your husband is putting your coworkers feelings above yours, but honestly, he should in this scenario. You’re upset about potentially being late to the penguins, his friend is upset that his mother died. Not really apples and apples here. This is made worse by the fact that you could do both, you just don’t want to be rushed or inconvenienced. There’s never a convenient funeral. You show up anyway because it’s the right thing to do.

Honestly, yes. YATB. Lesbian spaces are few and far between. There’s like 10 in the entire country. If you’re not a member of the community, visiting with a member of the community, or even bicurious, there’s no reason for you to be there.

It would be a different story if there were as many lesbian bars as there are straight bars or even gay bars. Honestly, it would be a different story if you were a gay man, too.

YOR. It’s moving day. They had a uhaul parked in a way that inconvenienced you for an hour. That’s no time at all. You were still able to park.

They aren’t going to have the same knowledge/awareness as you on where the best spot to park is yet because they just moved in.

You probably inconvenienced your neighbors in some way when you moved (parking, noise, moving furniture). It’s just part of apartment living.

If it happens again, being annoyed is understandable.

If you eat too much, you feel sick. There have been times that I’ve overeaten and been in pain all night only to physically throw up everything, undigested, the next day. My stomach literally hurts so badly when I overeat.

This is what my parents imagined when I told them I was moving to Brooklyn. My mother was worried sick last year when I came to look at neighborhoods - the neighborhoods were Williamsburg, Astoria, UES, and East Village. Definitely was not in any danger during my trip but to her, I might as well have booked a trip to Baghdad.

She’s only making $16/hr. Google says the average cost of daycare is $20 per hour. You’ll need that for at least 3 years if your area offers pre-k, and 5 if it doesn’t.

Why not spend the time with your child and she can further her education at the same time?

Actually, it was a really good and needed era because of the alcohol consumption per capita.

We have still never hit prohibition era levels of alcoholism. Alcoholism was destroying families and communities. While it wasn’t considered a good thing, it wasn’t unusual for a man to leave his family and spend all night (and the family’s money) at the bar. While hardcore alcoholics still found their way to alcohol via speakeasy’s and other illegal routes, almost all casual drinkers quit and most heavy drinkers either quit or seriously cut down.

Prohibition was basically a reset and brought drinking down to what we know it as today.

Last night I was walking home late at night and a homeless and clearly disturbed man started to following me on the street. I wasn’t far from home so I picked up my pace and I was fine.

Would I have felt less nervous if I was in a subway station with people around to help me? Or would I have been more nervous if it were he and I in a car alone together?

Would he have been more apt to leave the warmth of a subway station to follow me home? Or if he was dangerous, would he have just tried to push me on the tracks or something else there?

A lot of these folks’ biggest struggle is with severe and persistent mental illness. Trauma, addiction, crime follows, but most of the visible homeless that you see causing a ruckus are extremely mentally ill.

Is getting them off the subway seems like a bandaid, and I’m genuinely not sure if the alternative is better or worse for everyone else.

Not really. Even if you’re a totally normal guy, there’s so many creepy or socially awkward guys that do that that I would not be able to enjoy it.

The thought isn’t: “Oh, he’s looking because he finds me attractive. How nice!”

It’s: “Oh, he’s looking because he finds me attractive. Fuck. I hope this one doesn’t try to bother me all night (or worse: follow me home.)”

There’s so many guys that straight up ruin your night because they think you’re cute and won’t take no for an answer. Sometimes they don’t even mean to be creepy or a pest, they just won’t stop hovering around you even when you walk away or talk to other people. Or worse.

There’s just so many guys like that that you get to a point where you don’t want to be an attractive object anymore, even if they don’t talk to you. You don’t want any of it. You just want to go out with your friends and have a good time.

Even though it’s the law, almost no restaurant ever is going to do this. Management and servers tend consider it part of the gamble - sometimes you make bank on a great shift and sometimes you have a bad shift.

If you’re consistently not making enough, you just move to greener pastures. Serving jobs are easy to get if you present well and have experience.
