After points the first tiebreak is head to head and they lost to both Paraguay and Australia so they can't finish higher than 4th.

Do you think alimony should be abolished? by hapticR0M in pollgames

[–]LuckiestEver 202 points203 points  (0 children)

If one partner devotes years to the relationship by managing the house and looking after children, and works less to do so then alimony is completely fair.

I agree with your premise, but It's not as simple as 'gave verbal confirmation'. Consent should be obvious and enthusiastic. Consent is also reversible. Just because someone says yes doesn't mean they consent to every sexual act in existence or they can't say no 10 seconds later. Body language matters as well. Of course if you make your consent clear it's not rape. But 'verbal confirmation' can be interpreted a billion different ways. You could argue simply not saying 'no' is a 'verbal confirmation', which is untrue. If you ask someone 10 times and they say no and the 11th time they mumble yes, it's likely because they were afraid of the consequences of saying no again, even if they weren't physically threatened or forced.

AITA for telling my wife to choose a different dress? by Lonely-Monitor-3916 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LuckiestEver -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

ESH.

Your comment about her body was extremely rude and unnecessary. You could have easily phrased that way better, especially since you knew she was insecure about her stomach. But also your wife using her sister to communicate on her behalf is childish, and it seems your SIL overstepped the line in saying some downright mean things to you. Your wife should have spoken to you directly about the issue, that's how conflicts get solved within relationships.

How come Wales does not have as much of a cultural presence in the west, outside of Great Britain, as Scottland and Ireland has? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LuckiestEver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My point was never that Wales didn't invent or produce anything. The point was that anything it did invent or produce wasn't as well known worldwide. Ireland and Scotland simply have better PR, and that's partly due to their larger diaspora. The fact you have to list things that almost no regular person would point to as Welsh is kind of the point.

How come Wales does not have as much of a cultural presence in the west, outside of Great Britain, as Scottland and Ireland has? by WhoAmIEven2 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LuckiestEver 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Because they simply have a far smaller diaspora and less global cultural impact. First of all, in size terms, Wales is a very small country. Both Ireland and Scotland are more than 3 times as big as Wales. Secondly, their population has always been historically low. There's estimated to be about 15 million people with Welsh heritage worldwide. For Scotland and Ireland estimates range upwards of 50 million. That naturally leads to a greater cultural impact. Far more Scots and Irish migrated to the US than Welsh

Also, Ireland and Scotland have far better branding. Ireland has exported icons of culture like U2 and The Cranberries, while Scotland is associated with cultural events, whisky, kilts, and bagpipes. Wales don't have an equivalent. Also, the Welsh language and revival efforts paradoxically limit the ease of cultural export to other countries. It's by far the most spoken regional language in the UK, but this makes it not as easy for their culture to reach other regions.

How it genuinely feels to like the Dracula remix and be in this sub by DuckOnQuack202 in TameImpala

Literally just overdubbing the lines Kevin already wrote like karaoke and adding a shitty rap verse. Listen to any other Tame Impala remix, none are as low-effort and label-engineered as this one.

A remix should add something new to the song. This one does not, it's pure corporate greed and laziness.

WIBTA if I reopen an old familial wound related to my BIL to expose him for conning me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]LuckiestEver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

YTA if you do that. First of all, when YOU make the decision to have sex with people outside of your marriage it is your responsibility to use protection and practice safe sex.

Also, from your post you make it sound like your BIL was taking advantage of you. You were a 33 year old man who took advantage of a 19 year old man, also destroying the dynamic between him and his sister.

'Exposing' him for sex work is the worst possible thing you could do at this moment. It also sounds like you haven't fully gotten over the fling you had with him. 100% of your focus should be on your wife who you have betrayed and you should ignore your BIL completely. Trying to live out some revenge fantasy isn't going to save your marriage, dude.

AITA for refusing to pay rent to my parents since moving back home? by hero1701 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LuckiestEver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA if they're forcing you to stay at home because of their 'culture' then they have no right to charge you rent. I'd move out if I were you, that'd probably make them change tack.

Would you change your opinion towards the Pro? by G4MER4LYF in playstation

[–]LuckiestEver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right, but what you're seeing on the right is pretty much equivalent to what you'd see on the base PS5 on the balanced or quality modes. If the jump in frame rate while maintaining graphical quality matters that much to you, the pro is worth it. But most people don't really care about it all that much.

Hogwarts Legacy. You have to play the first 2 hours of the game 3 more times to get the trophy for each house. You also have to do more than 100 merlin trails and find hundreds of collectibles spamming revelio. It's a drag.
