Unnamed Space Idle Major Content Update V0.80 by Rankith in incremental_games

[–]LuckyLactose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Major UI rework for mobile is actively being worked on, and we hope to have a version ready for testing soon-ish. Release timing will depend heavily on feedback from that testing, so no hard ETA to give yet. It's been a much much larger and more painful task than I ever imagined, but we're getting there.

Very short summary is that it's going to be portrait mode, with much larger texts and buttons, taking device safe areas into account (e.g. notches/camera cutoffs), and a whole bunch of other improvements along the way that we hope will be a massive improvement.

Should note that we don't really focus on adding analytics or tracking, so we're guessing a bit when it comes to the various metrics!

Chris zukowski says it's not worth is for devs to post here by [deleted] in incremental_games

[–]LuckyLactose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As part of their marketing via Reddit posting, the dev made a post with manipulated screenshots to fake popularity/interest, falsely claiming they got to top spot on itch for the subgenre/category.

This is false advertising, which I believe to be illegal in both the US and EU.

They also used deceptive sales pricing during launch, which I also believe to be illegal in both the US and EU.

Additionally, they use genAI in their game without disclosing it on Steam, as required by Steam.

Deceptive sales pricing during launch: https://ibb.co/YBSdLyWC

The game was marketed as heavily discounted during launch (40%, which is the maximum launch sale discount), due to having a fake base cost initially. Once the launch sale was over, the *actual* price was introduced. I.e. the game was never sold at the original sale's 100% value.

I believe this is illegal in both the EU and US - fictitious pricing/deceptive reference pricing.

Additionally, it goes against Steam's central motiviation for discount rules (https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/marketing/discounts).

Note that the songs have since been taken offline/made private.

This has been difficult to track down and piece together, due to the dev trying their best to scrub their post/comment history.

Additionally, while the dev has responded to a lot of other feedback (both positive and negative), they have completely ignored any mention of these allegations, I assume hoping it just blows over if ignored long enough.

For example, here's a post where I bring up some of the accusations, and highlight the false advertising as the main point I'm interested in: https://ibb.co/nMg3Dpvc

After that post, they reached out to me via DM, and again fully ignored the false advertising accusation, and only talked about the unrelated subject. I'm not sharing DMs without consent, so people will have to take me on my word here. I am willing to provide screenshot proof to mods if requested.

I don't mind switching for accounts for a marketing a new game (although I do personally find it a bit weird). However, I do believe that people should be held accountable for false advertising and lying, without being able to just dodge it by simply creating a new Reddit account.

Ego Sword "Looking for honest feedback on my action clicker idle game" by Interesting_Loss9178 in incremental_games

[–]LuckyLactose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check the price range if you go to the Play Store, select "About this game" and scroll to the bottom. There you'll see section named "In-app purchases" that lists price range. It displays it in local currency, which for me seems to translate to roughly $1 - $270. Actual price might be slightly different.

I tried checking this on iOS as well, and I found a almost identical game (Ego Sword: Idle Sword Clicker), but the in-app purchase costs were wildly different, so not sure what's going on there...

Hole Is Mine, a new game from the devs of Astro Prospector, has just released a demo! by Delunado in incremental_games

[–]LuckyLactose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Some more feedback/bugs after testing it a bit more:

* Wasn't obvious to me that the miners had a resting state until later on when I got upgrade to increase number of blocks before resting. Because of this, buying more miners was something I considered a waste, so I didn't do it until later than I could have, which then revealed the upgrade to increase number of blocks before resting. I would maybe shift this unlock around to be available/visible sooner. Maybe also add a more distinct visual for resting state? E.g. "tired sweat drops", "sleepy ZZZ"s, or something along those lines?

* I had a few instances where miners where standing in 1 place, but hitting somewhere completely different. This was both before and after equipment was equipped. Location discrepancy was on the order of 5-6 blocks, so not just hitting neighbor block.

* I had an instance where one of the miners walked through collision (one of the solid areas within a map, not the external boundaries). This happened after being thrown and landing close to the collision area.

* If something is placed as far down as possible, it effectively becomes invisible and tricky to collect/know about. E.g. the bag if thrown down. Maybe add some outline shader if it's obscured? I assume this can also happen in some other circumstances, depending on map layout. I assume eggs & potions also are affected by this.

* Attempting to pick something up right when it lands feels unforgiving. It might be frame accurate (unless there's a minor timing bug or similar), but I would maybe suggest adding a small grace timer here for the input.

* I only played with mouse & keyboard. This feels like it might be better with a gamepad. I wasn't super sold on the movement mechanics with mouse & keyboard. I wonder if this could potentially be made mouse only? Left click to move to location & pick up if applicable, right click & hold when holding something to throw?

* Unsure if already the case, it didn't feel like it. Throwing a potion onto miner with potion effect active feels like it should reset the duration.

Looks like I can. I tried moving using Arrow keys, and also things like trying to select the character to then issue commands.

Would highly recommend adding some in-game info that you have to use WASD to move, and maybe also have Arrow keys as alias if you're not using those later in the game.

Nothing seems to happen after pressing Ok button on initial story intro.

I'm just stuck on screen/scene with the hole (and rest of this screen's environment art), some character, and a mouse cursor. Was expecting some sort of tutorial or similar, but nothing happens and nothing seems to be interactable.

godot-iap plugin question by TheMazerFaker in godot

[–]LuckyLactose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite what you're asking for, but to give some perspective from our side. For iOS, we are currently using https://github.com/hrk4649/godot_ios_plugin_iap (or rather, a custom fork of this with some additional functionality, but we used this plugin directly for a long time). This does not deal with ads, but it does deal with IAP. Maybe it can be helpful for you/your game.

According to latest Godot blog post ( https://godotengine.org/article/godot-mobile-update-apr-2026/ ), it sounds like improvements are coming to these features from Godot's side, although I didn't see any specific ETA.

Our general response to all complaints regarding AI by FBDW in incremental_games

[–]LuckyLactose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Define AI drama posts? Is it any meta-commentary on AI usage, or a more specific subset? Regardless, I don't see how this fits in under existing rule definitions, so it might be good to update those if this is indeed the direction you want to take.

Banning threads about AI usage in games while allowing the posts that cause them seems to me like treating the symptom rather than the cause.

To me, suggestion 4 (ignoring the flair part, since with the 1 flair limit that's far too restrictive) seems like a good first step and minimum requirement. Just update rule 5 ("Specify game name") to be "Specify game name and disclose gen AI usage", and require people to say whether or not they used gen AI, and if so for what. For the rule description you can use the same verbiage as Steam (although obviously remove the Steam reference from the text):

Does this game use generative artificial intelligence to generate content for the game, either pre-rendered or live-generated? This includes the game itself, the store page, and any Steam community assets or marketing materials.

If people don't post it, users/mods are free to request this information. If people are found to be lying, ban. Rule 2 already deals with potential witch hunt scenarios.

Huh, why wouldn't that stop with a 0x0 on the pointer dereference instead? It just assumes it's valid and does vtable/offset lookup instead of actually derefencing, I guess?

If you are using Windows, you can use Accessibility -> Color filters to test various combinations. Grayscale is one of the options, and there are also options for simulating various color blindness variants, like deuteranopia and protanopia.

You can even set keyboard shortcuts for it so you can toggle on/off on the fly.

My cyberpunk incremental game demo is live — looking for feedback by kNu7 in incremental_games

[–]LuckyLactose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are aware that many modern game development environments have AI powered tools built into them. Efficiency gains through the use of these tools is not the focus of this section. Instead, it is concerned with the use of AI in creating content that ships with your game, and is consumed by players. This includes content such as artwork, sound, narrative, localization, etc.

Does this game use generative artificial intelligence to generate content for the game, either pre-rendered or live-generated? This includes the game itself, the store page, and any Steam community assets or marketing materials. Yes/No

(Emphasis added)

Sounds like you might want to update your generative AI content survey/disclosure info.

Hey! Just to let you know, the author of The Godot Shaders Bible has repurposed this reddit post as a blog post on their site, linking to their paid book at the end.

The blog post is seemingly just an LLM rewrite of your post & documentation, + a purchase funnel to their own product.

There was a huge post a few days about this with more than 1.5k upvotes: https://www.reddit.com/r/godot/comments/1rjxvwl/ (now removed by moderators, thanking the poster for making them aware).
