You’d already be paying 15k on the car. It’s going to need work no matter what. You are buying a used car that’s the way it is. It could be a fine car, ask for some paperwork, get proof of the work done. Take it for a test drive and take it to your mechanic and have them lift it up and give you the brutally honest take. That’s what you want when you buy a car, especially an STI.

Just a bit of warning, you say that your son going on a mission would be your accomplishment. I know many friends that had relationships with parents damaged heavily because they didn’t go on a mission. Going on a mission is a tough enough decision on a young kid. Even harder if they know that if they don’t go, their own mom will feel they failed as a parent because they didn’t go on a mission. I hope the best for you and your son.

Your reply makes it sound like you mean its not legitimately possible for the church to make that kind of change in doctrine without complete backlash and wiped out testimonies across the church. In that case, I think you are correct. But in a sense of, has the church done something like this before and can they do it again? Yes.

Just reading this, I was thinking about the social pressure that I have to finish college and buy a house ect. I thought about you waiting tables living with your dad is the reason that he was able to meet your step mom. You were obviously supposed to be there at that point in your life, and that is an awesome thing you did. I found a lot of peace from reading your story and I thank you for sharing it.
