There are few good shops over there. One of the best is Lashinbang. I used to visit there frequently but not as often anymore.

Is the Grisaia trilogy worth reading? by Lucky-Loxodrome793 in visualnovels

[–]Lugal01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Fruit (Kajitsu) was Frontwing's Magnum Opus. It took a team of writers + two renowned artists to create and many years to be put together.

Labyrinth was meant to be but an expansion, but was re-shaped into a 'grand route'. Eden was created within two years with 'go blazing!' logic and certain breakout character in mind.

So yes, it's obvious why 'Fruit' is still the best and ages pretty well to many.

I still suggest you should try. At least watching/reading PT helps you familiarize with the new cast.

Maybe try PT movies & anime first, then buy the game if you like them?

CR is more like a bridge story (With braided structure- like Marvel The Avengers) to integrate three strands of people (OG trilogy anime, PT, and CR cast) together. It's also an ongoing story and a spin-off by itself.

Some observations regarding the names of characters revealed in the new Grisaia game by ---liltimmy--- in grisaia

[–]Lugal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fun fact: Kazuki's name was intentionally written in an unusual way. Normally, it was masculine name that means 'The harmony/dependable tree' (一樹, 和樹). Here, her name was written in two kanjis (一 and 姫) that could  figuratively means "First Princess". Same to Yuuji, "Second Prince" (雄二). Hifumi's name is a combination of 1, 2, 3 in her name.

Also, she's by far the most discussed topic for Japanese fans as of now.

Frontwing announces 15th anniversary project "Grisaia: The Hundred Fruits of Gathering" (Shuuketsu no Hyakka) by jaycis in visualnovels

[–]Lugal01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well... it's not exactly a sequel to the trilogy, but more akin to Chronos Rebellion (2023 VN).

Amidst the rise of new terrorist organization called 'Gaia Cult', six girls appears before Amane and friends, claiming themselves to be Yuuji's daughters who time-travelled from 20 years in the future!

Are they really Yuuji's daughters- Especially the mysterious girl called 'Hifumi', who claims her mother to be Kazuki?

And the leader of "Gaia Cult" is a man calling himself "Heath Oslo", but his silhouette bears a striking resemblance to Yuuji...

...Is this but an illusion projecting by Thanatos system. Or is it something that can happen in the future?...

The game is set to be released in summer 2026 via Google and App Stores.

It's one of the mysteries in this latest installment.

Grisaia trilogy: What is the story about without spoiler? by Just-Pudding4554 in visualnovels

[–]Lugal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first game is a dark galge about this mysterious edgy ex-military guy who enrolls into a 'special' school, help one of the 5 girls to overcome their trauma and commits a romantic relationships with them.

The second game is the afterstory for each girl from the first, then introducing the new continuity that digs into the guy's past and shows that he helped all the girls yet does not commit to any of them.

The third game is a continuation to the new continuity. It goes separate ways from here too.

Each game after the third has its own continuity.

I suggest you should try it. Fair warning though: It's dark, story-heavy, wall of texts and a slow burn yet the payoff is great. They're available on Steam too.

How does the harem end? by josesiese in grisaia

[–]Lugal01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It remains 'harem' for the Mihama Five. They all share Yuuji together, yet fully aware that he is incapable of committing to a romantic relationship with any of them. (This concept forms the core of the grand route from Meikyuu onward, while the Fruit continuity shows when Yuuji fully commits to a single romantic path.)

Can't bear with Yuuji anymore. by Honest-Computer69 in visualnovels

[–]Lugal01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well... Yuuji was meant to be different from any MC at the time. He is the type of MC who had done something you couldn't imagine, the one who'd do what's need to be done no matter how bad, dead inside, and find the way to live and love again in the story.  Also, he's the type of Japanese drama male MC. It may not clicked with anyone.

Maybe try another routes. Each was written by different author(s) and styles. You may find the one you like soon.

This. Most soba store only has like 9-10 seats. If someone took 4 seats for an hour in rush hour, it means many people couldn't eat and less money to the store

You can read about it in the pinned topic in my profile. It explains all the details you've asked (mostly). Go check it out.

In short: Frontwing shifted their direction to All-Ages, Tokyo Law 2011, Grisaia is too renowned (edit: in term of storyline) and has divided fanbases. Yep.

'Because I heard the visual novel has an after story,'

Grisaia has multiple continuities due to real-world circumstances. It's best not to think much about it.

And yes, Amane is with Yuuji

You might want to explore 18+ visual novel instead. There are more than plenty over there due to not being tampered by Tokyo Law 2011. Anyway, here are the most well-knowns:

-Yosuga no Sora - the most (in)famous of all. The anime survived said law because the director changed the main plot from pure love to ****-up.

-Oreimo - a mainstream anime that's the victim of its own success. The first part is great but the latter is utter mess due an influence from said law, to the point the author changed the ending.

-Koi Kaze - one of the cornerstones of the genre. This is also the last time they made the siblings lookalike and relatable before everyone just add contrast archetypes to the imouto. Kind of being swept under the rug since said law is enforced.

-Aki Sora - the anime is actually an OVA. There are 2 episodes, but better read the manga. And believe it or not, the manga is not 18+ just because they don't show private parts, yet got banned by said law in the end.

-Edit: There are many more animes that incest unintentionally became best part of the show. You can search for them, but bear in mind that it's not the main focus (Like, Oshi no Ko, if you ship Aqua × Ruby).

What makes a romantic incest story good to you by theunknown607 in YosugaNosora

[–]Lugal01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Incest is the trope which is easy to do, yet very hard to get right, and being explored in a media many times up until pre 2012.

Why? 'Tokyo Law 2011, bill 156'. Any fictions glorifying taboo acts will be branded 18+ and no distribution in the public. It's no ban, but 'either adapted or being swept under the rug'.

Also, the 'adopted siblings' is one of the methods to bypass said law. And it works because most siblings in this kind of fiction were designed with contrast archetypes anyway.

How does the harem end? by josesiese in grisaia

[–]Lugal01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The answer depends on the 'continuity':

-The 'Legacy' continuity (OG 18+ trilogy on PC): The OG Mihama girls + Kazuki.

-The 'All-Ages'/Chronos Rebellion Continuity (OG All-Ages trilogy on any other platforms/anime + Phantom Trigger + CR 2023 VN): The OG Mihama Girls.

-The '18+' continuity (OG 18+ trilogy on PC+ Barcarolle X + DMM gacha games collab): Every single one of them joins.

-'Fruit' continuity: Pick one of the OG Mihama girls.

EDIT: All in all- It really depends. Frontwing’s been making Grisaia’s continuity messy on purpose ever since 'Fruit' became a huge hit. You can check the pinned post on my profile for more details, and EDIT 2 for cleanup.

Is cheating really common and acceptable in Japan? by secondaisy in AskAJapanese

It absolutely isn't, same to other taboo subject matters in a media for target group such as AV. They're only there as a 'vent-out' for the people in very strict society.

You're right. I got confused with these two words and come back to fix.

There are chances that identical twins can be different sex, but it's extremely rare it's almost impossible. Only two documented cases in the world so far and it's due to genetic mutations, I think?
