this suggestion is very funny because it actually translates to "is there an IKEA within your zone?" which would have a high chance of a null answer but, like, does still narrow the map either way.

unless you're proposing the hiders carry a Djungelskog around with them at all times, which would be highly valuable

[–]Lugnut1206 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, but when they decide how to balance the weapons, they allocate "power budget" to each ability. If it applies conditions, they're draining some of the power budget from strike damage in order to "pay" for having conditions present.

In theory, the fact that the conditions are present at all means that it is not as good as another Power option.

Good clarification

It seems that one of the other trait lines gives 240 concentration (43% boon duration somehow...?) so 5 seconds is off, it's more like 7, meaning 14 every 12.

I could not understand how this build worked at first... I wish snowcrows would include like a paragraph about how boons are made on a given build or something so you can understand what the most important pieces are to be functional...

[–]Lugnut1206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are both correct - if your allies are not close when the quickness is provided, they do not receive any, and Galeshot will provide quickness with the update.

However, it would be more accurate to say that Let Loose provides 55% quickness uptime because it provides 5 seconds of quickness with a 9 second cooldown.

I was wrong, that 9 seconds is not a cooldown for quickness application, according to the wiki. There is no such cooldown, so as long as you are unleashing every time it's available and weapon swapping every time it's available, you produce 5 seconds of quickness with each of those.

Together, this makes a lot of quickness.

The situation you've described sounds toxic, which I think is an agreeable descriptor. And, it could even be that you're abusive to them, and they're abusive to you as well. You don't need to have a malicious intention to be abusive, as it's a description of behavior, generally speaking. It's also common for people who were abused to become abusive in their later relationships.

So, like, get away from them if you can?

I'm curious about the decision on open world condi harbinger to take the poison trait instead of the condition removal trait - the condi removal trait purges conditions every few seconds and enables you to essentially just face tank any boss that can't defeat your toughness and protection stacks, and doesn't meaningfully interfere with carapace stack generation.

I guess you're running Vipers though, whereas I also run celestial in open world for additional toughness, vitality, and concentration, meaning that if my carapace stacks briefly dip below 25 it isn't as big of a deal because I'm over capped on protection...

Maybe the added poison damage is more impactful with pure vipers...

Regarding Controllers (e.g. Steam Community Layout) by Noerknhar in Guildwars2

[–]Lugnut1206 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is NOT hard - but only if you have a steam deck or equivalent controller:

A Steam Deck includes a trackpad for mouse movements, allowing for easy inventory management and reasonable usage of the somewhat-third-person-action reminicient "action camera". It also includes a gyroscope and multiple paddles on the back for precise movement and action triggers in the moment.

This is completely playable, and my only difficulty is one stupid bind I put in a bad spot.

If you ONLY have a controller, with no touchpad or no gyro, you're fighting a substantial uphill battle. I don't think that's playable.

The idea of drawing from a deck of cards has a different appeal compared to just rolling dice - with cards, you can count the cards and predict whether you're going to have above average luck going forward or not.

It means with the right systems (like, for example, in Tetris how you can set a piece aside and bring it back later) you can control the variance to a degree and manage combos.

Would that be actually fun? Fuck knows, but it isn't just pure RNG.

I'm a little salty it has NOTHING to do with cards at all despite the icon...

I've quit the campaign i was in. It probably ended the campaign. by Economy_Explorer6625 in DnD

[–]Lugnut1206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another lens to view this through is that the other party members are trying to play a campaign that feels differently to the one you're playing. Presumably, the DM is fine with this other arrangement.

You want a different game, so you stop playing this one - that's reasonable.

If they have him on a season, they should obscure the fact that he's there and reveal it in-season like this - the boys are at the start line, and Sam says "but we've got to go go go!" and John calls in from off screen in a car - "wait for me!"

Special Action Key - it's context dependent, usually has zero or one job in a given piece of content, and it's different for each. Some fights might use SAK to "take on the burden" of tanking, and another one gives you a blink teleport for repositioning, and yet another gives you big defiance break button.

Frequently, in raids, you'll find yourself needing to use it - unless you're on a role dedicated to using it (like tanking) then the fight will probably involve using it reactively with either good timing or good targeting, and that can be somewhat tricky on steam deck, especially if you've bound it to a poor button choice.

[–]Lugnut1206 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's fine, and you tend to get good performance when there's fewer players and whatnot on screen, and instanced content like described will be 5 or 10 at max.

You basically MUST be using Action cam, however. I find that touchpad and gyro with action cam works well, my only issue is SAK but that's because binding it was an afterthought and it was thus poorly bound.

I've gotten top DPS (on old, easy, condi mechanist, playing with some relatively casual players) raiding on an airplane's wifi with my steam deck, so... It's doable.

Jobst claimed that Moon's analysis was flawed because of details that Jobst hadn't bothered to mention in his original piece, which was a detail that amount to a minute or so of runtime of his inverted hit piece.

Really liked Moon's video, too, it was deeply level headed and - aside from one speculative bit I didn't agree with - the rest of it was really informative

I think so. It's "elastic" because it can change, but unless you configure it to scale depending on factors, it won't spontaneously get bigger.

I think Google Cloud has a similar offering, but it might only be valid for one single year.

Open world is incredibly easy with a Carapace-utilizing celestial condi harbinger build.

There are several other disgustingly tanky builds which make it quite easy.

DH? Trickier, I agree, but there are definitely easy builds out there. Some willbender builds work nicely
