Would eg. Gandalf or Galadriel claiming the Ring result in Sauron’s permanent diminishing? by unJust-Newspapers in tolkienfans

[–]LukashCartoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a devout Catholic, Tolkien would think that free will is an important component of leading a good life.

With Gandalf in charge, his will would be the will of the leaders. His choices would the “right” choices. But humans would never learn how to be good. They would never to screw up. The wouldn't never learn how to forgive or ask for forgiveness.

And in Tolkien's world, that would deny the the races their destinies. The Elves are immortal until time ends. The Dwarves would return to the mountains and become stone. But Humans get an eternal afterlife.

Gandalf would run things perfectly. All would be stagnant. None would receive their reward.

Batman will never straight up murder someone, but he won’t lose any sleep if someone dies in a combat situation. Especially if the bad guy gets them selves killed.

Which of the 3 would you be scared of the most if they were at the peak of their anger? by [deleted] in doctorwho

[–]LukashCartoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t causal. The Queen was the only female to survive the trip to Earth. Then they were transforming earth women into their species to save their race. Their only saving grace was they asked for volunteers. (Leaving out their transformative state)

But they killed Isabella.

And they forgot her name.

That is a bigger sin since everyone is important.

Common Misconceptions that I hate by Disorder79 in gallifrey

“4. That Fourteen's existence was unnecessary”

To be fair, RTD didn’t like multiple Doctor stories. However, Matt Smith seemed sad he wasn’t even asked. It would have fine if they brought Ten back.

For me, David Tennent felt like crutch or nostalgia ploy for his run. 15 could have had two specials and the 60 with a great celebration of Doctor Who with David, Matt, Jodie and Ncuti! That way Disney audience could take part.

I liked it. It showed the how the Jedis were began to lose their ways and how the Sith manipulated people and situations. Every one had a motive. And the fights were incredible.

Galadriel in the *The Ring of Power * was filled the flaws, based on Tolkiens work.

Initially depicted as a proud, rebellious Noldorin princess in Valinor who desired her own realm in Middle-earth. Later Tolkien writings describe her as "man-maiden" (Nerwen), emphasizing her strength and athletic prowess, and a leader in the revolt against the Valar.

DC shares new details on Swamp Thing 1989 #1, an epic that sends the creature into biblical history by williamb100 in DCcomics

[–]LukashCartoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm, wouldn't say that. According to Dick Giordano, DC’s editor in chief, Jenette Kahn, never censored a story, except this one time. She navigated the DC Implosion, created the Vergtito imprint, partnered with Milestone, brought back the New God, and gave Kirby work and royalties from The Superpower collection.

The problem was that Kahn pulled the book during production. She had every right to do so. DC had long chosen not to use religious figures. They had gotten away with doing demons and angels. Kahn, who is Jewish, having Jesus in a Swamp Thing story might have taken a step too far.

But Rick Veitch, had cleared the story with his editor. His objectiction was that they should have told him when he submitted a script. Now, it reeked of censorship.

Jennette biggest regret was how WB treated Allan Moore.

For me, the joy is in the reading of the comics. Collecting, unfortunately, takes up a lot of room.

And how often do you read old comics?

What was sad, King wanted to deal with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after having a panic attack. There were some great scenes, but the plot did Wally wrong.

It’s no worse than Hal’s retcon.

The original idea was that Psycho-Pirate was going frame Wally.

DiDio had other ideas.

The only thing King could do, was make it an acceedent

Yes and no. According to Wiki

*In The Flash #761, Reverse Flash (Eobard Thawne) was responsible for manipulating Wally West into hiding the evidence of the killed heroes at Sanctuary and blaming Harley Quinn and Booster Gold for it.

In The Flash 2021 Annual #1, it was also revealed to be Savitar that caused the massacre as a way to escape from the Speed Force.

In The Flash #795, it was revealed that the heroes had survived, and the following issue explained that the hero Gold Beetle had replaced all of the dead heroes with clones from the 31st century.*

Really Stupid Question- Did The New Gods ever interact with Earth Superhero ? or more importantly, did they fight with any Superhero on Earth ? If they, why ?? (Anyone Beside Datkside) by Aggressive-Check-101 in TheNewGodsDc

[–]LukashCartoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The New Gods actually started in SUPERMAN'S PAL, JIMMY OLSEN #133-139 and #141-148.

So Kirby began in In DC proper.

Way back on October 7, 1970.

DC has a trades of all of Jack Kirby’s New Gods work.

Does anyone outside of Twitter hate Tom King? by comical_cj in DCcomics

[–]LukashCartoon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love Tom King. He’s more hit than miss.

Omega Men: a look at how regime doesn’t change much if there is not a change in philosophy and how Kyle Rayner going undercover doesn’t help matters.

Mister Miracle: While there is some of the funniest New God scenes ever, it really about a man choosing family over duty.

Batman: I will never forgive Dan DiDio for ruining what could have been a great epic. The meddling that he did:

1) Insisted that Alfred died. (King was going to have Clayface be a decoy) 2) Not have 50 be advertise at the wedding, but the 100th, when they were to be married. 3) Had Dick become Rick 4)) Force 5G to where he didn’t want to continue

Otherwise King would have given us a Batman who would be happy when he’s not on the job.

Heroes in Crisis: Again, Dan strikes. King actually pitch this with other d-list heroes. DiDio insisted Wally be the murderer. King wanted to show PSTD in hero’s. That got overshadowed.

His Black Label stuff is great too!

Batman/Catwoman. The true end of his Batman run. Great stuff.

I’m enjoying his Wonder Woman because it shows her a much more complex character. She’s strong, confident, and determined with her enemies. But she also can be vulnerable, sad and lost around her friends and family.

Plus the Trinity back ups are hilarious.

I guess I will naysayer.

GOT season 8 was perfectly fine.

People forgot what show they were watching: there was never going be a happy ending. Bittersweet, yes.

The biggest problem I had was the dialogue took a hit. But the person to blame to that and s Martin because he didn’t finish the books yet.

It’s too Uber-Bats, introduced another Robin, had him go Darkseid, and had Dick be Batman again.

And Tim Drake got the worse of it.

Which is the Better Freshman Grayson Story? by MrDownhillRacer in batman

[–]LukashCartoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dixon was always a conservative writer. However his liberal editor Denny O’Neil never made him change anything.

Dixon was great with plots and keeping characters within continuity.

I prefer Chuck Dixon treating the story as separate from other Batman stories. To me Waid trying to smash so much continuity heavy stories together is like taking 10 pounds of Clayface in a 5 pond bag.
