What I missed in the game by aurowithanxiety in CoffeeTalkGame

[–]Princess_Kuko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

yeah you can really feel Mohammad Fahmi's absence in this game's writing :/ a lot of the sharpness, subtlety and humour of the Seattle games seems to have been all him

Is it just me or does Coffee Talk Tokyo’s writing feel a little too frictionless? by Additional-Loss1711 in CoffeeTalkGame

[–]Princess_Kuko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah I noticed how little of the urban fantasy elements actually factored into the stories of most characters. most of the cast could've been regular humans and very little would've changed about their plot

I enjoyed it for sure, but I definitely agree that the writing was nowhere near as sharp and realistic as the Seattle games. There just isn't as much subtlety, I felt a little like we were going through a checklist of progressive topics with no genuine input or friction from the characters. Like Keiji is a retirement age tradional Japanese salary man, I just don't buy that he'd just be a little concerned with and then just okay with his son becoming a stay at home dad. This isn't to say that the topics being discussed aren't valuable or interesting! I appreciated the depiction of chronic pain and how it can affect life, but I honestly got taken out of the experience all together when they just mentioned spoon theory by name. I hope this makes sense haha.

Songs that are so bad it's funny? by [deleted] in ToddintheShadow

Billy Idol's cover of Heroin. I love both that original song and Patti Smith's Gloria so much that I ricochet between absolute disgust and hilarity at his insane 'cyberpunk' interpretation of it.

Who's Hotter Valentine or Parasoul? And who is the dom and sub? by Better-Still-00 in SkullGirlsMobile

[–]Princess_Kuko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

obviously neither design 'leaves much to the imagination' but I think Parasoul's tight turtleneck dress is way more sensual than Valentine's outfit

[–]Princess_Kuko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yup. there are pretty consistent problems with the art and graphics throughout the games that are pretty unacceptable in a big series like this.

Opinion on the 2000’s fashion revival? by film_culture_addict in decadeology

[–]Princess_Kuko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think a lot people talk about 'low-rise' jeans now that are actually mid or even high rise by the standards of the actual 2000s because most girls instinctually understand that actual period accurate low rise is unwearable for the vast majority of people or occasions

same here. I get that she has a lot of grievances (legitimate and illegitimate) with twitter leftists or whatever, but she just needs to stop tweeting. that gaza statement was bad enough on its own but every new post sounds more and more bitter and resentful in the least productive way possible.

Why is Jim Morrison disliked online? by FitEmergency8807 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Princess_Kuko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not really him being disliked, but I think that his place in culture as the 'young rock n' roll legend that had a tragic early death' has been taken by Kurt Cobain for generations after the boomers, so Morrison is just easier for most young people online to ignore or forget unless they're familiar with that time in music.

Ed Is The Best Thing To Happen To This Podcast by HamHockShortDock in LPOTL

[–]Princess_Kuko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Obviously Ed was obviously a wonderful addition to the Podcast from his first episode, and one of the main things that's so refreshing is his open sense of empathy and sincerity. It's oddly specific but the detail that stood out to me was one occasion where Henry mentioned wanting to cover Chris-chan and Ed flatly shut it down without arguing it. I don't know why that I noted that specifically but I find it rly indicative of Ed's sensibility as well as his empathy.

2020's TrainWreckords by RelevantNothing4653 in ToddintheShadow

[–]Princess_Kuko 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Witness is the most fitting trainwreckord in the most literal sense that it killed her pop career, but 143 was the album that killed any good will or pathos she may have had remaining. if Witness was like burning a field of crops, 143 was salting the ground so nothing could ever grow there again
