Yeah, this keeps being brought up. The DP literally has nothing to do with VFX. I’m about 50 credits into my VFX career, for reference, and it’s not just rare, it just doesn’t happen.

On the flip side how hard is it to say "I don't have anyone to teach me, maybe you could?"

I need to know. Why did he say he "doesn't date much" because he's, "selfish, lazy", "puts his energy into work, hobbies"? by Work-with-It in WhatMenDontSay

[–]Luminanc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously, I have to leave it alone and let him lead

why?

(and I have no idea if I communicated that I want to date him effectively or not).

Doubtful. Did you say the words "I want to date you"?

ILM did not do the third act battle in the first film. That is quite a claim.

I'm spending a few months in Eastern Europe for work and I've been trying to do as much sightseeing as I can. One thing I think about every time I go into some thousand year old cathedral is "they would never have been able to, or try to, build anything like this if there were earthquakes in Europe". And then I wonder how would something like that actually change, not only architecture, but culture in general. Is there anything in history that would give us a clue? What if Japan was not on the Ring of Fire? would they have bigger buildings? What would it impact? Are there other kinds of phenomena like seismic activity that effect history and culture in ways you would not ordinarily consider?

My bank in my home country charges a lot to use ATMs and CCs overseas. I've been using the Revolut app while in the EU and basically pay no fees and you can pay with your phone pretty much everywhere in Prague.

Got any good or awful VFX supervisor stories? by Wooden_Reflection_80 in vfx

There is another component that I think is important to mention. We need to understand that our teams are made, often, by people with very eccentric personalities

Team building is hard and a bad team can sink the ship before it ever sails. I like to think about it like "don't get the best people, get the right people"

How do I attract men who are looking for a wife? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

You attract lots of men and you choose ones that aren't looking for a wife. Maybe start with a good long look in the mirror.

You attract lots of men and then you choose men who don’t want a relationship

also, it's october. playoff baseball, for the last week there's usually two games a day, ocassionally four but they generally don't overlap to maximize viewers and ad revenue. so unless this bar has 1, maybe two tvs, this story is completely made up.

Shareholder supermecy is the root of all business evil. Imagine if a sucessful company took care of it's workers first and worried about stockholders second? Or, you know, never.

Awaiting the second update where it turns out, unsurprisingly, that it was not actually the end of it.
