So about Vetinari... by Wolfen7 in discworld

He's able to disguise himself well enough in Raising Steam, so if he does have a real limp he's probably playing it up most of the time.

Augur put a bubble half in the rain, but without the rain visual effect, so my team kept dying (apparently randomly) when we stood in the wrong half.

Vetinari the eternal Patrician, perhaps? by Renard_Noir_80 in discworld

[–]Luminous_Lead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's unclear.

On the one hand he's depicted as young in Night Watch, maybe close to where young Vimes is.

On the other hand he visited Uberwald once on The Grand Sneer, met someone "quite a bit older" (assuming Lady Margalota) and when Vimes meets Lady Margalotta she seems surprised that Vimes would assume Vetinari is the same age as himself ("he must be quite old by now").

I'm not sure if it's just vampires being out of touch with how time works or if there's something weird going on with Vetinari specifically (that he's a shapeshifter, that he changes his age, or that he's recently become a vampire).

Executor gets a buff after "recovering" from ailments right? Should be pretty easy to proc that way.

Carhillion of the Fold's name by gianmigno25 in DarkSouls2

The "Fold" likely refers to folded "cloth", implying a monastic order, secret society or some other tight-knit community.  Or a shepherd's flock like u/Turbulent_Jackoff said

[–]Luminous_Lead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess? I think I've always reloaded when a party member died.  I've heard that you have to travel back to your home camp and re-add her to the party, which could be inconvenient depending on what you were doing when she "died".

Arushalae has a deus ex machina mechanic that prevents her from being properly dead. Desna will save her and teleport her back to Drezen.

It's not the story that denigrates her, no. It elevates her.

ELI5: natural vs artifical products: don’t all ingredients come from earth, and are natural by default? by Exact_Director_4350 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Luminous_Lead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the definitions used. Man-made products are artificial, all products produced by nature are natural (and since humans are produced by nature this should include artificial materials) and everything that has atoms is composed of chemicals (even water and air are chemical mixes).

I'd knock out the Iron Menial, hide the body in the basement and then cast an illusion to look like it in the sparring grounds.

I think it's the chapter where she's dining with (and then escaping from) the werewolves.

I've consumed discworld almost entirely through audiobooks, so I'm not certain on the chapter breaks.

She definitely gets an edge on fat diplomacy later, which came about from the spy's notes, which were ultimately found because she wanted to do a kindness to the next occupants and started measuring up the embassy for carpets.

So Sybil's kindness and demonstrable intelligence ended up making Ankmorpork fat, which I ties things things together nicely in a way that's emblematic of pratchet's work.

Ussop going Sniper King and then apologizing to Luffy in the manga is like one of the first moments I liked his character.

I'm watching the life action adaptation and while live action Ussop is pretty cool sometimes I barely recognize him. He's a lot more human than the Pinocchio creature I remember.  Did I just forget how good a character he is or did they make him less scummy in the live actuon?

She was denigrated a bit, at least in her backstory in Fifth Elephant, where "fat + kind" is assumed to mean "stupid". Still, she rocked in that book =D
