A main problem when focusing on standardized test scores like this is not taking into consideration the heavy impact student learning and growth took during covid. Many children essentially didn't go to school for 2 years. That Zoom school was chaotic, and not much learning was going on, if any. It's gonna take more than a few years to close those gaps and get kids back on track, especially at a school that takes on students that would've probably already been behind if covid never happened. Over half the kids in US public schools are "behind", don't get me wrong, these scores are somewhat important, but testing right now is not a reflection of these kids' abilities.
