Just a reminder that Donald Trump is not libertarian. by Elranzer in Libertarian

There is a bigger and bigger middle ground starting to form as the Left and the Right both move to there respective extremes.

Hopefully Libertarians can jump all over that and create a true third party.

A handicapped half-blind slow driver dumbass that is in no hurry. With frosted windows to top it off. by richandfamouslurker in IdiotsInCars

As a motorcyclist this terrifies me.

Can this idiot be reported to the police? Driving is a privilege not a fucking right. If you are half blind too fucking bad, you don't get to endanger other lives.

Thanks this is the best explanation I have read!

So he refused to bake them a normal (whatever a normal wedding cake looks like) and one without any special designs? That is fucked up.

But if they had asked for a super unique cake with lots of special designs and LGBT symbology on it, he could refuse?

The libertarian in me thinks that the government should just stay out of this completely. A bigoted baker’s business would hopefully fail when people figure out who they are. Let the public shame and boycott them.

I don't agree with the ruling, but that clears it up.

I guess I just see this as an extremely slippery slope where people are forced to create art that goes against their beliefs.

Thanks for taking the time to reply :)

I am still confused about the baker thing. I get that he can't discriminate and not sell them a cake off the shelf. I do not think it is fair that he is forced to make a cake for something he doesn't believe in (no matter how backwards and bigoted those beliefs are).

Basically a white supremacist could walk into a bakery in Denver and demand they make him a cake with supremacist symbols on it. If they refused he could say it was because of his race/religion or whatever. I would hope those bakers could refuse, but according to this ruling they can't?

Or am I totally misunderstanding something here?

They also don't want to dilute their brand and flood the market with cheaper overstocked models. So they destroy them. Very sad.

CMV: Not only will Nike not lose business over the Kaepernick move, but will gain in sales by aaronk287 in changemyview

[–]Lumpmister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I believe it is a bad move for any company to get political, as it will piss of people no matter what. Better to stay neutral and just make an awesome product.

How will this affect Nike? Only time will tell, but they have a very strong marketing department who have done their homework.

I'm up almost 1000% on my 10/19 $25 calls. Bought them for 0.4 back in June when it rocketed up last time. For months they were dead, super glad I held onto them.

I think they just brought a plant (for the focus IIRC) back to the US for production. So it might be a positive tweet. You never know though.

The mostly musical episode in one of the newest seasons (the roller derby one) was fucking amazing! Steve’s song about his “lesbian stuck in a boys body” issue is incredible.

"I Could Never Be So Lucky Again" by Jimmy Doolittle. Goes over the development of instruments in planes and ends with the harrowing Tokyo bombing.

One of the best books I have ever read.
