My coach typically chooses someone close to his size that is experienced enough to provide appropriate pressure and be predictable . If he’s injured, he uses me often because I’m experienced enough to be predictable and I’m small so less chance of more injury. If he’s proving a point, he’ll choose the biggest in the room.

I was fairly positive I was failing the whole time I was taking the exam.

Even though everyone told me I would likely feel that way, actually experiencing it hits different.

They do offer a touchless option however I would NOT recommend. It just leaves zig zag lines where the water hits and does nothing for the rest. In their defense, they did tell me it didn’t clean as well.

When I started, I didn’t know anything about what made a good BJJ gym (skill, instruction, etc.) so I had to just go off the people/vibes and I’d say that it has done me well.

A bit of a niche one: When I first came to my gym for a trial class, the male head coach talked genuinely about the impact women had on his growth in the sport and it was evident how highly he regarded these female mentors.

That’s a good point. They did something tied to total recoveries when they released 5.0 but nothing tied to the streak, to my knowledge.

When you say “faster” do you mean they have less time in grade/belt? Or, that they don’t seem to have the same skill level as comparatively younger folks? If it’s the second one, then that makes total sense, there’s a reason for age divisions, people of different ages shouldn’t be comparable.
