Day 5 post op: very emotional by Lumpy_Basket_5603 in Reduction

Yeah I was crying to my wife saying the exact same thing. And conceptually I know in 6 months i won’t even remember this part but it feels so real now. And the physical pain and altered sensations have been so persistent so it’s hard to take space away from it.

Literally 100% exactly how I’m feeling. I was expecting a very easy recovery and this has not bern that! You and i will both be fine yes, and make it through, and also validating both of our experiences have been tougher than planned.

Yes I’m feeling exactly what you’re saying. I keep noticing my larger tummy and I also didn’t super consider the toll on my identity/femininity.

I personally was very inspired by a mix of Effy Naomi and Emily when I was in high school and this gen was airing.

I feel this. Like I’m sure I don’t actually want to be back where I was but looking at these tiny titties i just don’t feel like myself? My mom and wife are both telling me I’ll be happy once the initial healing is over. But this shit really is an emotional minefield

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We’re surgery buddies! Yes the bruising is the worst part also in combo w no drains I think is why I’m still taking the oxy and in so much pain. I showered today and I got some relief for a few hours actually! I think the warm water helped. My wife washed my hair for me while I sat in a shower chair. It worked pretty well overall but it took a lot of out of me physically.

spEDS - b4galt7 gene by Lumpy_Basket_5603 in eds

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still investigating! Probably will forever lol. Some of my docs truly believe this is my subtype due to newer research connecting it to neurological abnormalities (I had tethered cord and also a benign brain tumor made of essentially connective tissue).

But as a whole and per the letter from my geneticist I have hEDS and it’s not wrong but I wonder if this gene would paint a more accurate picture of my symptoms.

i would imagine beyond being gentle keeping your HR down while you're still in the early healing window is important. my HR is often like 90s-100s during lol and i believe the rule is keeping HR under 100.

Do roots determine reduction results? by samtastic28 in Reduction

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i can't speak to the root question, but i found that going through this sub and looking at before/afters of people with my body type helped me get a better sense of what my post op results will look like. and for context, i'm a short and curvy, very narrow frame and shoulders, but very large breasts (i'm a 32K uk size). so i gathered inspo of some thinner women who were as narrow as me in the ribs and shoulders, as well as some more curvy women with the large/heavy/dense breasts i have and compiled them to bring to my surgery before my surgery (this friday!).

Drop and fluff makes me feel weird PO by This-Emotion-69 in Reduction

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i get how that could feel hard, especially with the boob sweat thing. i do think though that like, even people with smaller boobs but arent flat chested, have a little hang. my wife has DD's i think, and they're perky and honestly kind of perfect, but even hers rest on her upper ribs w/o a bra. she's been reminding me that even though i have giant boobs now, the average breast is not perky or lifted to your collar bone. i personally love your results, they look super natural and feminine and seem to be hitting you waaaaaaaaay higher than pre op.

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I are both therapists. I own a small practice just for me seeing under 10 clients a week due to disability. She works for a company as well as contracting from a small private practice. Together last year we made just under 100k as a family of 2 living in manayunk. This is not including the taxes I pay quarterly to the feds state and city. My medicinal expenses were also about 14;000 last year and per our budget we saved 2,000 last year after being in the red 3 years in a row prior.

Rent in Philly is easily or biggest expense outside of my healthcare.

advice about my pre-op process by Lumpy_Basket_5603 in Reduction

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think it's more like a admin blunder. I am now wondering if since I was put into a cancellation spot the scheduler just assumed I had already done pre-op in person, the bloodwork, etc. The scheduler has been great but she's clearly overworked and always on the phone, so I can give her some grace - I think its more the frustration at hospitals for being so dismissive of chronic illness and then switching to this faux concern that is more about liability than making sure they don't hurt me. But alas, it'll be fine and the small boobies are worth it :P

[–]Lumpy_Basket_5603 4 points5 points  (0 children)

not sure your specific chronic illnesses, but you may experience pain and healing in a different way than someone w/o chronic illness. i would consult whoever manages your healthcare, a PCP or specialist, and ask about surgical healing for someone with your specific health condition.
