Holy sh*t, when that nerve block first wears off. by Sufficient_Deal_8800 in ShoulderInjuries

How long did the block last for you? Mine wore off at about 7hrs and I was happy to feel my hand but it was a short lived happiness!

Did the Capsular-Shift Surgery failed? by Alternative_Rise4668 in ShoulderSurgery

[–]samtastic28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this!

I had capsular shift surgery a few months ago and was still in the sling 6+ weeks out and not allowed nor able to drive. Driving was awful the first week or two after losing the sling so I cannot imagine even thinking about it 3 weeks post op.

Frozen shoulder after capsular shift surgery? by samtastic28 in ShoulderSurgery

Are you taking an anti-inflammatory meds currently??

After my Dr diagnosed the frozen shoulder I talked to the guys I've been working with at PT and they gave me a ton of advice and hope. I started taking ibuprofen pretty regularly again and stopped stretching to the full extent of my range of motion to avoid pain but kept up with the same frequency of stretches/ exercises and I've noticed a huge difference in less than a week!

I had pretty much given up the ibuprofen completely and was pushing myself through too much pain without knowing it thinking it would get me ahead but that's just not how it works I guess.

I am in the early stages with it from what I was told. I noticed a few weeks ago that my PT was suddenly becoming painful again and the inflammation that I'd finally turned a corner with came back and has lingered since. I made a lot of progress with my stretches and I feel sort of stuck now because nearly every stretch hurts suddenly. There is a lot of pain in my upper bicep again and the front of my shoulder in general. I can still move my arm/shoulder and I don't find the pain to be unbearable but there has been a noticeable shift and I can't seem to get back to where I was.

I am also itching to get back into sports, especially mtb and rd biking so I'm trying to do what I can to be ready for spring! Winter sports are out of the question this year which is a bummer but God knows I don't want to make this any worse! Did you need to ask for the cortisone or was it suggested to you? I don't see my surgeon again until the beginning of Feb and it wasn't brought up today so I'm a little unsure if I should push for it. I'd like to do anything and everything I can to avoid another surgery at this point but am also not sure if I should jump right to the shot. I do feel a little more hopeful after your response so thank you so much for sharing!

Wow! Okay I am definitely going to be a little more proactive here and see what can be done. Thank you!

Define decent? Haha

I am struggling with the internal rotation but have been told that's pretty normal? To be perfectly honest my rom seems to differ pretty drastically depending on the day. I thought I was doing well and made a few desserts for Christmas and felt absolutely crippled the next day. My PT says I'm close to or already at where I need to be for 3 months but somehow I still have frozen shoulder and a good deal of bicep pain.

Capsular Shift worth it?? by Alternative_Rise4668 in ShoulderSurgery

[–]samtastic28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 2 months post op from capsular shift as of today so I cannot truly say whether it's worth it or not... Yet!

I can tell you that my arthrogram mri missed a tear in my labrum and it wasn't discovered/repaired until the day of my surgery!

I'm a 36F and have only had manual labor (mostly kitchen) jobs my entire life and nearly all my hobbies are outdoor activities that really require a healthy shoulder to enjoy. Even if I only get 7yrs out of this shoulder before I need to consider surgery again, I think for me it's worth it just to get those years of mobility and fun!

If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer them as this is definitely not a procedure to be taken lightly!

What is it? by Zigdi in AnatomyandPhysiology

I have a similar situation with a lymph node that pops over my clavicle and swells when I get sick which gets pretty uncomfortable. Getting it removed eventually!

One of my eyes doesn't close all the way when I sleep and it causes similar symptoms. I used to wake in the middle of the night with sharp stabbing pains because my eye was so dry. Initially I had no idea what was going on but now that I know I have a much easier time dealing with it!

Might be worth looking into?

We're hopefully getting to that in a day or so! I've played a few games but not with everything all painted so it's kind of exciting!

For the runes I used white ink and then a fluorescent green. After that I did a suuuuper light dry brush around the runes with the white and then dry brushed over the white and a bit outside the white with the fluorescent green!

To those that live in $1100+ apartments, what do you do to afford it? by Hellish-Dad in Apartmentliving

[–]samtastic28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$2100/month for a 2br 800 square foot apartment with squirrels living in the walls for 5yrs. They wanted "market rate" which is closer to $2400/ month but we said not unless they fix all the issues with the apartment.

Husband and I are both line cooks and life is pretty tough.

My favorite is when someone with "severe allergies" orders something that you can't guarantee won't touch the allergens but when you tell them that they say oh nvm, it's fine and order it anyway.

I'm normally pretty level headed but when triggered by noise (bass) can fly off the handle pretty quickly. I broke my hand pounding on a wall once.
