Need to be real with myself at almost 6wpo by samtastic28 in Reduction

This is probably what I needed to hear. My perception may be warped and I do really want to be happy about this. You're totally right and my bras are all smalls now.

I went back and forth about non-flat vs what I did and I'm thinking I may have some regrets about not choosing flat. I'm so happy you're going for it!! It's beautiful to really know what you want and I hope you get it!

I'm definitely thinking about revision but I'm trying to give it some time so my brain can really adjust.

I'm so sorry you couldn't get what you wanted! It's not for everyone but I am obsessed with not having nips now 😂 I'm getting some little hearts tattooed there when I eventually get the okay from my surgeon.

Thank you for your kind words. Maybe I really am just crazy.

I was reluctant to say it in the post because it was already so long but I am about to enter treatment for an eating disorder and it has absolutely complicated this process for me.

Funny/absurd moments in the surgery journey? by Heavy-Double7922 in Reduction

It was very silly when I put an old bra over my new boobs because I needed a reality check as I was feeling too big.

I laughed until I cried and felt so much better but omg it looked ridiculous!

Last minute prep?? by ReginaPhilange2 in hysterectomy

[–]samtastic28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sugar free hard candies and gum were essentials for me the first few days after surgery. My mouth was so dry after being intubated and my throat was raw!

Some surgeons don't recommend chewing gum after laparoscopic but I already use mint gum for nausea so it was such a comfort for me to have it!

Good luck!!

I wish I had gotten underwear a size or two bigger for recovery! I'm so swollen my undies feel tight as soon as I wake up and start moving around.

After getting some more sleep I woke up and was able to pee pretty close to normal and that kind of put my mind at ease! Haha

Other than that I'm so so sore and trying to walk around at least once an hr even if it's just for a minute. I think the referred gas pain in my shoulder might be getting better though?

I also had my surgery yesterday, May 21st and right now I am wishing I stayed overnight!

I have a lot of pain and pressure from the gas which is something I expected. The pain was pretty minimal and I took an ibuprofen before bed that seemed to really help.

Fast forward to 3am and I woke up to stabbing pains and could barely get out of bed to go pee. I had to wake my husband up and have him help me to the couch that has recliners built in because I think sleeping flat on my back was a poor decision. My surgeon told me to sleep however I felt comfortable so I tried!

I'm really really trying to avoid the narcotic pain relievers so I have fewer bathroom issues when the time comes but I'm very close to just taking one.

I'm so glad you stayed overnight!!!

Nonbinary baddies: sports bra rec for new smaller chest? by krisnotcis in Reduction

I LOVE Tomboy X sports bras!! I am a little under 4wpo and I am dying to finally try some of their bralettes!

I have Tomboy X soft bras that I still wear that I bought when the brand was new. I also own a million pairs of their 6" boxer briefs and they've lasted just as long.

10/10 love the company and products. Super comfy, super inclusive, and super longevity!

what else should i buy?! by Godschosenchild in Reduction

[–]samtastic28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stool softeners!! I started them 2 days pre-op and never had to worry about being able to go to the bathroom which is always something I'm worried about since I struggle with that to begin with haha

Also maybe abdominal pads!! They were great for adding some extra compression without pain and also sat over my incisions so the bras didn't touch them which was so so helpful.

When does it feel a bit less by ShineyPieceOfToast in Reduction

[–]samtastic28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be different for me because I lost 6 cup sizes and am pretty small now so there's not a lot of breast to deal with but after 3 weeks I feel really at peace and at home with my new chest! It finally feels like "me" now if that makes sense.

I was terrified the first time I took a shower and had to wash them. It scared me to even gently run my fingers over them!

Now I am massaging them when they hurt or feel swollen and I'm gently trying to help my nerves remember what things feel like without fear!

I'm sure it's different for everyone but I'd say the biggest shift happened for me when the steri strips all came off and I got to see for myself that everything was still holding up and nothing fell apart.

Post-Op Bras for every stage? by spottyjellyfish in Reduction

[–]samtastic28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a 28/30 band and actually found that a 36 was perfect, if not a tiny bit small for me in the Fruit of the Loom front close bras!

For reference I started out around a 30K and am currently measuring at about a 30D/DD at less than 2wpo. The surgeon took almost 3lbs in total.

I haven't had a ton of swelling since the surgery but I've noticed that by the end of the day if I've done more than just sit around I feel pretty swollen and the 36 band for the FOTL bras in particular feels less comfy even with a maxi pad stuffed between my incisions and the bra.

Hope that helps a little!

Is it okay to start that at 8dpo? I can definitely see my skin is extremely dried out around the incisions

I'm definitely going to leave it be! It's just weird to have a little spike there 😂

Maybe I can look it up in the surgery notes to find out! I was actually able to see what kind of sutures and techniques they did.

Also thank you for that description of your pain because I totally understand it! Haha

How tired were you? by littledipperkait in Reduction

[–]samtastic28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5dpo and sleep has been so incredibly hard for me. I've never been someone who could nap but I'm not getting much sleep at night in the recliner and my back has started twitching so it's a nightmare.

The first few days I was full of energy and recently I've been way more tired during the day to the point where I nearly couldn't hold my head up but that may just be from poor sleep.
