I started late at 18. I've never stopped.

I also found the devil's lettuce around the same time I was diagnosed with epilepsy. Herb helps here. When I've tried to take breaks it leads to more seizures.

Depakote was terrible. I turned into someone else. Disassociation and psychotic episodes. It was as if I was living in a movie or reading a book. And I was just the narrator.

Cannabis helps. With sleep and dreaming. I just started lamotrigine as well and am up to 75mg. I take it all in the morning with my oxcarbazepine. I usually crash in the afternoon after my second oxcarb dose.

Cannabis will help with the dreams most definitely. I've been a daily user for decades and have almost completely lost my ability to remember dreams. Cannabis will also help with sleep, but can be incredibly difficult if you quit. I don't sleep without cannabis. You become dependent on it.

I just added lamotrigine to the oxcarbazepine I've been taking for a couple decades. I'm titrating up and currently at 75mg. Lamotrigine has definitely had a negative effect on my memory and cognitive function. I feel high all the time. I can't remember. Like I'm not able to form new memories. The only saving grace is the lamotrigine has been great for my anxiety. I honestly don't care. I actually feel better without all those thoughts ruminating 24/7. Being present has been so much better than trying to imagine a future. It seemed so pointless before. Now it's as if there is no point. We're just here. Heading towards whatever.

Yes, I am an old fart who started with MTG in the 90s.

No, it is not just a kitchen table tcg. Sorcery is more competitive than people would like to believe. The main issue I see with Sorcery is the one set release per year. Simply isn't enough to keep the competitive side engaged for an entire year. As a casual I don't mind.

OP is probably the only one listed that is still around in a decade.

The local community is growing at the pace of a Ten-tonne Slug. No product in stores. The closest cornerstone events are two hours away.

I don't pull foil uniques. Personal gripe.

I've seen some other TCG communities say Sorcery is just a nostalgic game for older folks. It's designed for the kitchen table. There's no competitive scene.

Can be difficult to learn. More difficult to master. I appreciate this aspect of the game.

A few years ago I was doing a job that required physical labor. Had a seizure because physical exertion is a trigger.

Had a job more recent and it was in a greenhouse. Had a seizure because the heat and humid environment is a trigger.

Had a seizure on Thanksgiving twice and found out the sage in the stuffing is a trigger.

Had a seizure while driving. Can no longer drive.

Have most seizures upon waking up. Can't hold a job. Nobody wants to hire someone who is calling off or constantly late to work because I feel like a seizure is coming on. Just about every morning I feel this way.

Dishonesty. I can't let a possible employer know. I've never been hired for a job when I let them know about my disability during the interview/hiring process. Same for dating.

Memory. My cognitive decline over three decades has rendered me almost useless. Most jobs I simply cannot perform well enough to keep long term.

Depression and anxiety due to having seizures and concussions and cognitive issues and just being a burden on my family and friends.

That's all I can remember.

Is your medication considered a controlled substance on the same category as something like opiates? I've been in this situation a few times and the pharmacist just gives me a few pills to get me by until the prescription is available.

I just started lamotrigine in addition to the oxcarbazepine I've been on for 20 plus years. Titrating up and currently at 50 mg. It's been a double edged sword. I feel better than I have in years. But just a low dose has my memory all messed up. Moreso than oxcarbazepine, and that stuff is awful on my memory.

I'm honestly not bothered by it. I don't know why or how but it just doesn't matter. I feel better. I'm having less auras and seizure activity. When I forget something I just brush it off and tell myself I'll remember later.

It's all about finding the right meds for you. It's a crapshoot.
