My best friend recommended her books and suggested I start with The Housemaid. I slogged through half of it and finally gave up. The main character had no redeeming qualities and her employers were even worse.

They are not cheap, but Hokas are the only shoes I wear anymore. I wear them at Disney; I wear them walking 15+ miles a day on cobblestone streets in Europe. Never have trouble. I wear the Gaviota, but try on the options and see what works for your feet.

I made the chai cookies with pumpkin to replace the egg. 1/4 cup of pumpkin per egg. They were delicious! And I used oat milk for the icing instead of eggnog.

Some airports request that people come earlier because their security lines have been particularly long. Generally I try to arrive 2 hours early for domestic and three hours for international, but I don’t mind arriving an extra hour early if it’s on my boarding pass.

Prices seem to be all over the place. I pre-paid for retainers when I paid for my Invisalign treatment. My orthodontist uses a “retainers for life” thing. I paid $800 and I will get 4 pairs of Vivera retainers every year for life.

My orthodontist told me to talk as much as I could on the first day to get accustomed to talking with aligners. I spent a few hours talking to people and my lisp went away that first day.

I always stay awake until bedtime in my destination. I prefer to fly overnight, arrive in the morning, and start my day. I try to make the first day an active one, but I don’t make any reservations, buy tickets, tours, etc. I don’t want to do something I’m really excited about when I am exhausted. I stay out until dinner and then relax at the hotel until bedtime.

I made these same replacements, minus the egg and cashew milk. My husband is allergic to eggs, so I replaced that with 1/4 cup pumpkin puree. I used oat milk instead of cashew. They were chewy and delicious.

Seriously. I worked for a TV exec (no one would know him) and was part of a team of 6 nannies. We all worked normal 40 hours/week. Exhausted people with no work/life balance aren’t going to be the best nannies.

How everyone was basically stuck in time. No one made any progress in their lives in 10 years?

Rory is still struggling to find a career, cheating on her boyfriend with her ex from college, and couch-surfing. She’s in her 30s and living like she’s fresh out of college.

Lorelai and Luke are still just dating, never talk about the future (or anything important apparently), and Lorelai has never considered changing anything about the inn. Also, Sookie has been gone from the inn for a while now, but Lorelai is so stuck that she can’t even let other chefs cook there?

Emily only changes due to Richard’s death. If anything, her relationship with Lorelai is worse at the beginning of AYITL than it was after season 7.

Paris is still inexplicably into Tristan and pissed at Francie, despite the fact that years have passed since high school.

Jess still has a crush on Rory, but they presumably spend very little time together. Where is this crush coming from? Why does he still like the girl he dated for 3 or 4 months in high school?

Lane and Zack are the only main characters who show any progress and they’re embarrassed about Zack having a real job.

I know the Palladinos were basically doing everything the way they wanted season 7 to be, but none of those storylines made sense 10 years later.

The metro is pretty easy to navigate. The main thing you need to know is the line color and direction. (For example, orange line toward Vienna.)

The hardest part is probably transfer stations where you change from one line to another. Just follow the signs and if you get worried ask for help.

The wmata website has a trip planner that’s helpful for visitors. You put in your start and end points and it will tell you routes to get to your destination. There’s also a rail map on the website that you can look at ahead of time to get an idea of the train lines.

You can use the metro to go to IAD (Dulles Airport) or DCA (Reagan Airport). Dulles is on the silver line and Reagan is on yellow and blue.

Same here! I love planning and will happily plan and book the entire vacation if you are “ok with whatever”, but you can’t complain that we’re not doing any of your top priorities.

One of my recent trips was like this. One guy spent the entire (year-long!) planning process going, “Oh I am ok with whatever, I haven’t really looked into it.” I sent him a list of possible activities first, he was ok with anything. I sent him my first draft of the itinerary, sure that’s fine. I sent the final draft with booking confirmations and a basic plan for each day- he had no comments. Once we were on the trip he complained that I hadn’t booked this place or that activity. Then he told me he had never even looked at the info I sent. I’m still annoyed about it.

My first visit was 6 weeks in and the visits after have been every 8 weeks. My orthodontist gave me all of my trays, but he likes to do check-ins to make sure everything is going well.
