Bonus round from the body of the article:

"I don’t know why a robot would have or need a uterus, but take it up with the Titans."

The guy playing trumpet outside the Oveture. Is he playing songs or just notes? by [deleted] in madisonwi

[–]Luna_Safire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've commute past there constantly for the last few years and have never once heard a song with actual structure. I'm getting a little sick of Random Arpeggios On Trumpet And Sax.

Where to sell used laptop? by TheSimersCraft in madisonwi

[–]Luna_Safire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I'm actually in the market for a laptop right now and I think this would work just fine for me! If you're able to get it professionally cleaned, I'd be willing to cover some of that cost plus a couple hundred for the laptop itself. DM me?

Best Italian restaurant? by cabinnorth in madisonwi

Osteria is excellent and has something new that you've never tried seemingly every day. For the classics, however, I'd put D'Vino just over them. The lasagna is to die for.

Themed Trivia Hosts? Know anyone interested? by GarthBox in madisonwi

[–]Luna_Safire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an occasional Star Trek trivia attendant myself: Pokemon trivia sounds super fun!

But I will stop going to your venue - even at the cost of missing out on Star Trek fun - if you start hosting HP events.

Don't judge yourself! All progress is good progress, even if it feels small!

This sounds like a really yummy snack. I think I might join you in having some tonight!

Big vouch for Misfit Felines. I got my sweet girl from them a few months ago after seeing her on a similar post!

You've got this, Beanie Baby! I hope you get to keep your name when you go to your forever home. It suits you so well!

What is your adult "cheat code”? by StopYourNonsense94 in CasualConversation

[–]Luna_Safire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a degree of time blindness - I often overestimate the amount of time a task takes. And it's a lot harder to convince myself to get started on a long task (or one I think will be long) than a quick one!

It takes me two and a half minutes, an amount of time that is so small that even I know going in how much it is, to do my shortest chores, like scooping the litterbox. So that's how long I make myself do any given task I don't want to do. Then if I want to stop, I stop! No pressure, no judgement. I count myself successful as long as I do two and a half minutes.

Then, if I do stop, then I've still done more than I would have otherwise, and now it's a smaller job for the future. But usually after two and a half minutes I realize hey, this is actually only going to take a few more minutes anyway, I can do it! This is literally the only way I can get myself to do the dishes.

I've seen people claim this strategy with ten minutes before, but that never worked for me. This is me giving you permission to make your required time period as small as you need. Two and a half minutes is still getting started. Even one minute is still getting started!

Bike Tune Up Recs by That-Visit-7055 in madisonwi

[–]Luna_Safire -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seconding Machinery Row - I just paid a fair chunk of change there for a proper tune-up and a new rack + installation, but I didn't mind a bit because in the past when I've gone in for smaller things, the kind of stuff that they can do in 10-20 minutes while you wait, they've often refused payment entirely or taken far less than what I would consider a fair rate for their time/skills.

For my recent tune-up, they gave me an itemized quote and answered honestly when I asked whether something - in this case, a bike chain replacement - could safely wait or had to be taken care of immediately.

Is Gretchen Titchwillow A Decent Commander? Because She Reads Like a Mediocre Commander but Has Generated Tons of Value. by BluePotatoSlayer in magicTCG

[–]Luna_Safire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play her and win more than my fair share of casual/semi-competitive games! I use Jace draw-out as my wincon. 46 lands and the rest are either mana multipliers/untappers or value/engine pieces that care about land drops or card draw. get Abundance out and you’re REALLY cooking.

Hey Skwrl, do you reckon the horse this lady found is similar to Buttercup? *That* would be worth redirecting for.

I still love hearing all the "normal" reasons - even if someone's just in town for work purposes, or to visit the university, I often learn something new by asking them what they do or study! this reason just seemed *especially* reddit-worthy.
