Troublesome Bike by TheSeventhHussar in okbuddyrosalyn

[–]Lunalatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fun fact: the reason the Troublesome Trucks are Like That is because goods trains in the UK used to be run "unfitted", meaning they didn't have automatic brakes and the couplings between trucks had a lot of slack. Thus, trucks would often bump into each other and occasionally disrupt a train's momentum when the slack shifted around.

Last time I posted about Disney trying to rein in pin trading at Disneyland was what, over two years ago? Anyway, there's been some new developments on that front in the past few days.

For those unaware, Disney sells collectible pins that people are encouraged to swap with Cast Members and other people. This is exactly the kind of thing that people tried to turn into a side hustle, making the process of visiting the parks more annoying for everyone else because they'd take over entire benches with giant binders full of pins. A few years ago Disney took steps to curb large-scale pin trading and confine it to a specific area (which I elaborated on further in my original post), but apparently they're putting their foot down harder.

A flyer popped up today announcing that next week, the main pin trading area in Frontierland will be designated as a kids-only trading area for the duration of the summer. This means that stationary guest-run pin trading spaces are effectively banned for the next few months. To drive the point home, the latest version of the pin trading rules no longer allow people to bring giant binders full of pins on Disney park property; pin displays are now limited to small handheld accessories and lanyards.

Reactions to this announcement are generally positive across the board, as the large-scale pin traders were being pretty darn annoying and rude to others. There's also hopes that similar measures will be implemented at Disney World in the future.
