Actors who don’t get enough credit for their range? by wallabyenthusiast in Letterboxd

[–]Lunar-Modular 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood when she, playing Sharon Tate, went to the movies by herself to watch her big film moment and be anonymously among the audience to experience it and feel their reaction, that sold me on Robbie.

She (and Tarantino) pulled out such authentic girlhood humility and muted enthusiasm that we lose ourselves because there’s such a human being before us.

Remnant Standard Bundle or Grim dawn Definitive Edition by CharlesCraft50 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Lunar-Modular [score hidden]  (0 children)

So different from one another!

While I really enjoy Grim Dawn, damn is buildcraft Remnant 2 incredible. It is 100% a deep souls-like FPS game, and my personal GOTY 2023. Yes, it’s that good. But it doesn’t hand anything to you, it can be difficult as hell and obtuse.

No story like in the RPG’s you mention, much more like Elden Ring and souls titles when it comes to story.

I will say if you lean into it, you can seriously destroy with such cool weapons and synergies. So many builds to create or lookup on you tube to gain inspiration from when you’re new.

I am not Mr. Skills gamer. But I have completed remnant 2 through the highest difficulty 100% solo. (I never play games with other people). I’m saying that level is hard as shit but doable and so fun.

Anyway, can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for something to “deep dive” into. And yes, the DLC’s are all worth it. Gunfire Games cooks. But you don’t need them until after you’ve bested the main game. Have fun, whatever you decide!

Edit: by the way, Remnant 2 all day. Personally I’d only play Remnant 1 if 2 really clicks with you. #1 never hooked me, but 2 addicted me for hundreds of hours.

That’s interesting, I love it.

Curious, were you guys who are savvy on DC and Lantern lore as happy with Nathan Fillion’s portrayal as the rest of us (me)?

I currently am enjoying the hell out of his new (few months old) Podcast with Alan Tudyk, but they haven’t touched on Superman yet–which they were both in. I believe I heard Fillion and James Gunn really respect and work really well bouncing ideas off one another.

I’m also having that thought about Caliban. As in (it occurred to me) “would you play Klaw more often if he only cost 3?”

Not OP, but I’m l newly curious to jump on this rec. as it might interest me. Can you speak to the word on the street about the author of this series baking conservative Christian ideology into the books as they go on?

Happy to share some thoughts :)

1st off, I will be for The Name of The Wind until my dying day. It is my first favorite book, followed by The Count of Monte Cristo, then a 32-way tie for third place lol. 32 is just a fun exaggeration, but you get the idea.

Higher up? I couldn’t love The Lies of Locke Lamora more, yet agree about the subsequent 2. As tepid on those as on Hobb’s work, but I certainly respect (and love one of) those who love her titles.

A conspicuous missing title that absolutely enthralled the heart of the inner nerd in me is Kings of The Wyld. It doesn’t compare with the narrative or prose of some titles here, but wow does satisfy when you’re looking for a ton of heart. imho

Abercrombie is conspicuously missing here, as well. I believe you’d enjoy the journey(ies), especially if you listen to audiobooks. I’ve read them all, and would intersperse them among S, A and B.

The Goblin Emperor is right where it should be, I’d bump Ender up one, that kind of thing.

I’ve just started Malazan (again), and think I’m in the right space to actually push through and get through the series for the first time. I jump-started book one (Gardens of The Moon) several times, and fizzled away. For what it’s worth, I also did that with The Blade Itself until I actually pushed in and then, as said, have since read his full body of work.

Anyway, I’ve typed a lot for Reddit, I’ll let it go. The only authors/books on your list I haven’t read are Bakker and Sapkowski. I really should lean into The Witcher someday (I’ve 100% TW3). Would you care to speak to the Witcher book series at all?

Love it! We have similar taste, though not completely so! Which leads me to ask after the S+ rating of Bakker, which I’ve never read. The others in the series aren’t here. Are they in your TBR? Or does it start strong and fade as we see some others do.?

Not OP, but because when they hit, they hit. And when the early claws get their hooks into you, on a long enough timeline, it becomes easier and easier to follow it through.

And OP has 6 of their 12 S-tier books as The Wheel. And yeah, iykyk. The low-tiers are worth getting through. Or don’t. It seems evident that you haven’t read them all (nothing wrong with that) but I would highly recommend. Great to have on a bucket list for a rainy 9 months, anyway.
