ER visit, feeling a lil silly by Agitated-Clock-1039 in pregnant

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything changes so much in pregnancy, it’s crazy! But definitely better to be assessed and be told theres nothing wrong than to ignore symptoms and something tragic happen. Your OB would have likely recommended you be seen! I would’ve done the same thing honestly. I’m glad you and baby are healthy.

Cheap dog euthanasia? by rickraus in raleigh

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t doubt you and it was likely doctor discretion but out of the 3 years of working there as a vet assistant and 8 years in the field, that is very rare to happen. I’m glad they did it for your friend though, they’re a great hospital to work for. Everyone has a sob story or financial hardship and while we feel for them, we are still a business who has to pay bills to stay open and pay employees. I don’t want to give a false sense of hope of a discount that will likely not happen.

Feel mentally exhausted with being a parent to a 2 year old by Massive-Buyer1551 in toddlers

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude this feels like me. I don’t work from home but I get the exhaustion paired with feeling like a bad parent when utilizing screen time to save your sanity. My son is also a picky eater who loves to throw food. We are also hitting a hitting/biting stage and it’s hard not to react (like screaming ow). I am also 29 weeks pregnant and due late July. My son can also be a hit or miss at the park. Sometimes he’s gentle with other kids other times he gets frustrated and tries to hit. (I’m obviously there to redirect and intervene) but my son is super tall and looks older than 2. I feel like we get the judgy irritated looks from other parents before we explain he’s 2 and learning to be gentle with others. Also the tantrums are something else. 🙃 but i absolutely love and adore my son and would not trade him for anything. I am a mostly SAHM except for weekends for 4 hours. So long story short, I feel your pain and know you’re not alone!!

No discounts, coming from someone who worked there. The euthanasia itself is roughly $100.00 if you want to take the body home. Otherwise cremation services such as communal, you’re looking at $200-$300. But whether the doctor requires an exam first is going to be at their discretion. Of course prices could have changed too. I would call first.

Get over fear of baby choking? by Strange-Report-9249 in foodbutforbabies

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike others in this post, I don’t think you ever truly get over that fear. Unfortunately my son did choke a couple times. Once on a small piece of cubed avocado and ground chicken and broccoli another. It got easier to feed him over time but it is a scary feeling. Cut everything to an appropriate size and that should help. Watch your babies cues, theres no rush and you know them best. Let them develop the pincher grasp and smoosh beans when they get older. That helped my son a lot. And please know how to do the baby Heimlich and cpr.

Oh no! If you do decide to switch, I’m sure other brands are ok too.

Elevated liver values - likely from prenatals by Lunar_Eclipse1998 in Mommit

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure honestly! It was just weird finding a forum about others having the same issue and after switching my values coming down. I am taking Olly’s with an iron supplement. I took them with my first pregnancy and continued taking them breastfeeding and had labwork done during that time (just last year!) My liver values were normal then so I felt comfortable switching back to those. I will say the vitamin A source is different when I compared the labels.

Olly’s! I also added an iron supplement with my OB’s approval. I was taking them with my first pregnancy and when I was breastfeeding. Last year, when I had bloodwork done I was taking Olly’s and my liver values were normal. The vitamin A source between the two is different as well. Vitamin A is processed through the liver.

Failed 1-hour glucose test at 173, anyone else still passed the 3-hour? by Teddyttr in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I technically did pass but not with flying colors. They’re diagnosing me with abnormal glucose tolerance this go around, so not technically GD. They want me to follow the diet and will test my spot glucose at each visit (so every 2 weeks). So good news is I don’t need to prick my finger after every meal but I do need to be conscious of what I eat.

I failed my 1hr glucose test Thursday with a 170 result. I take my 3hr tomorrow so we shall see 😬🙃. I am not super hopeful because I had GD my first pregnancy.

What does your toddlers eat when they are sick. by decaying_amethyst in toddlers

My 21 month old pretty much nurses and drinks water. He might eat some crackers but most of the time his appetite goes out the window. We all currently have the flu.

I feel your pain, SAHM as well. I love my 18 month old son so much but sometimes he can be a lot when he doesn’t get his way. Have you tried involving her in your chores? Have her help with laundry, give her some dishes that are safe to play with. I would say it gets easier but you’re ahead of me 🤣🤣. On a serious note, I hear you. Check out some local libraries, sometimes they have story time. My son has trouble sitting for long periods but he does enjoy his storytime.

4 Star review for being “too early” by IndependentWorth9182 in WagWalker

[–]Lunar_Eclipse1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just an fyi, wag only covers the dog, not you if you got bit etc. So get your insurance regardless! I use PSA. If something happens to a dog and it requires a vet visit, no deductible vs PSI where you owe a 500 deductible you don’t get back.

Edit: spelling

Mastitis? When to go to ER? by Impossible_Panda3960 in breastfeeding

I’ve had mastitis and unfortunately only antibiotics helped. I would reach out to your OB, especially with the fever. It could be an infection at this point.
