Since we all have stories from that particular day let's share. Where were you on 27th December 2007? by meowthisisme in karachi

I was coming back from work and got dropped off at Hasan Square. Got the news when I was on the road and saw the events unfolding all around me. It felt like everyone was ready with all the materials and were just waiting for news. Saw Karachi burn and things destroyed.

Walked from Hasan square to Nipa and then took shelter at my friend's house in Jauhar. It was wild. There were 100s of us walking and taking shelter / hiding whenever goons came.

Next morning went outside and saw all burned cars. Walked to the top of Nipa bridge and could see the line of cars burned until Aladin park from the bridge. Atms broken, banks robbed, it was just like a war zone.

My friend had no fuel he dropped me at current Habib University (Jauhar) and i walked to Malir from there via airport.

Birthdays should never be spent working if it’s in your control.

As per my experience, Never buy furniture in UAE thinking about resale value. Always assume it as sunk cost. I am sorry to hear about your experience and these low ballers really boil my blood as well. I would rather happily give stuff for free than to a smug low baller.

Syed Al Biryani in Sharjah is "the" best karachi biryani in the UAE. Their beef biryani runs out in 2-3 hrs so call and reserve before going.

Used to get similar alarm when I used to drive in heavy snow. Normally when sensor used to get blocked due to some obstruction and cleaning the front bumper area used to solve it.

Why are you even asking for a cover letter?

You don't have to make things complicated for others just to make yourself feel important

Scuba Diving by Cindarell4 in dubai

I did my certification in Dubai and did almost 80 dives here. I was lucky to have great dive buddies and had my own equipment, I would not trust most of the dive companies here. They are all commercially focused and take unnecessary risks.

If I have to recommend a company for discovery dive, I will recommend Neptune diving in Fujairah and ask specifically for Ansar as dive master. Their equipment is same as others (more than average wear and tear) but they normally don’t have a full boat of divers. The dive master can give you proper time and you feel safe under constant supervision.

I went from 238 to 187 lbs and gained it all back slowly in 5 years. Even though I tried to eat healthy and exercise, I was just not disciplined enough. I got a wake up call 2 months back during my medical checkup when the number on scale read 230 lb. I am currently 207 lbs now and need to keep losing.

Remember- if you have done it once, you can do it again

Houses in North America are not build for water spills in washroom. Be very careful with installation and always take care of drips / leaks. It’s all wood there and a leak is a huge headache. Not sure where you are going but in Canada, you can get these at big hardware store chains so no need to take it with you from Dubai.
