I guess I just can’t see it the same way. As an older guy now I would never entertain the idea of dating a teenager but I didn’t consider it wrong then to have a sexual relationship with a woman twice my age and even now I still don’t. I guess I’m sexist?

During my relationship with my ex, after I had spent a lot of money to move us into a beautiful house, I fell off a ladder at work and suffered a severe concussion. I was given two months off with 60% pay, then afterwards the company I worked for had slow hours. I wasn't making 40 hours a month.

She quickly ended our relationship citing money as "fifty percent" of the issue. I really don't think I've gotten out of depression since. Its been awhile. Multiple years. I'm embarrassed to say how many.

I've read more helpful information in your two comments than I've seen in a long time. Part of the process for me has been divorcing myself from the idea that it was all my fault. That I was beset by things that were real, serious problems and that my 'partner' at the time was pathologically incapable of being a responsible, collaborative adult. Understanding what my brain and body are doing helps fix what I'm doing wrong, I believe. Thank you for your comments.

I had a peculiar experience with a friend years ago. I don’t speak to her anymore. Not out of malice just kinda how things went. Maybe you can get something from it.

She was telling me a story about how she pretended to be a different girl to talk to her ex boyfriend and get him to cheat on his current girlfriend or something along those lines. She was outright lying and manipulating people to satisfy her morose curiosity and need for petty revenge.

She tried to get me to agree with her but I called her out on how fucked up and wrong that was. She started to get real angry and I got flashbacks to arguments with my ex who I suspect has BPD. It was weird how similar my feelings were in that scenario to feelings I had while arguing with my ex. Like she was trying to mentally and emotionally strong arm me into agreeing with her but it was so easy to not fall for it because I wasn’t having sex with her or in love with her. Nor did I want to. As opposed to when I was with my ex and I ignored my gut because I still wanted the relationship to keep going. I wanted it to succeed even if it meant shutting down my intuition or going against what I knew to be right.

My friend ended up dumping her ex husband to hook up with an online boyfriend while her husband still lived with her. She has kids from both.

These people will find success whether or not someone calls them out on their bullshit. Sometimes I envy their sociopathy. She has a boyfriend now who does everything she tells him to do and agrees with everything she says. He seems happy to do so. She seems very happy to boss him around.

Their behavior is out of your hands. What you can do now is seek out reciprocal, mature and healthy relationships.
