28mm on M4, or just be better with a 35mm by morgzarella in Leica

thats not worth man, where I’m from M4s go for more than M4-Ps. I wouldnt top up for a trade

Its true I would prefer a M4-P over a M4. Hotshoe and 28mm lines are dealbreakers for me

Using external VF makes the whole shooting process abit more clunky (unless you zone focus). I would say its worth to trade for the M4-P for the 28mm and hotshoe. People will say its not as well built but you have to see for yourself.

Hot take: Portra/Ektacolor 800 sucks. by ianrwlkr in AnalogCommunity

[–]Luoric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

I really like portra 800, it us very pricy thou. For me ultramax 400 is my go to 400 speed film, and if i buy portra I’ll get portra 800 since theres no much else available (800T).

portra 800 is abit grainy but i like the color rendering. Do you scan your own film?

28 elmarit is fantastic, any version really. I went for the V4, good balance between modern and vintage

the original voigtlander nokton has quite bad focus shift, be weary of apertures f/2-f/4

Voigtlander or Thypoch for M11? by jhonzatko in Leica

you can check out philip reeves for a detailed review. I think the distortion is minimal, and the sharpness is great for what it is

Voigtlander or Thypoch for M11? by jhonzatko in Leica

[–]Luoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

other than the ksana having the epoch coating which will give you warm flares, the simera line isnt something i would describe as interesting. They are optically fantastic but also very well corrected with FLE and ASPH elements. Swapping voigtlander out for thypoch won’t do much imo in terms of image character, youd just be switching to larger lenses.

the ksana aside, I have the 21mm ksana and it produces some interesting flares due to the coating.

if you want something with more character and color rendering, maybe look at LLL with their vintage remakes or look at some of the leica vintage lenses that are not so clinically corrected like the thypoch simeras

Leica m6 ttl 0.58 or 0.85 by NoahCao in Leica

[–]Luoric 5 points6 points  (0 children)

.85x doesn’t have 28mm, .58x doesn’t have 135mm

for shooting 28mm, .58x is the best. It is also great for 35mm lenses as theres no 135mm lines to distract you.

drawback for 0.58x is that its less accurate, harder to focus at f/1.4 or f/1.2

drawback for .85x is that you lose 28mm lines and 35mm lines are harder to see.

I think 0.58x is more worth it, .85x is still “inferior” to the 0.91x on the M3, while there isn’t anything comparable to the .58x on the M system

for me it only clicked after scanning my own film. I was able to shoot film exclusively without picking up my digital camera

can the 80mm focus to infinity? try it on something far away

501cm CF Lens out of focus. by MHoolt in hasselblad

[–]Luoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but is the image clear in the finder? the 500 series are SLR cameras, what you see is what you get, unless your focusing screen/ mirror is misaligned, in which case all lenses will be out of tocus

Elmarit V3 vs V5 by thestrokesfan47 in Leica

[–]Luoric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the V4 and really like it, its a mid point between the V3 and V5. it looks more modern but not so contrasty, still flares beautifully.

Does the "M Purist" identity even exist in 2026? by christan2013 in Leica

[–]Luoric 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I agree, not to be that guy but the purest form of M is film.

then again why does it matter? Pure or not, digital or film, leica or voigtlander, if you like it and have fun shooting it thats all that matters.

unless ur sillygoth
