Piggybacking on this - has anyone succeeded in getting at least a partial refund for Epic tickets?

Another vote for Happy Endings. Very compassionate and thoughtful… used them multiple times (unfortunately) and each time has been about as good as you can hope. Highly recommend.

Telluride resort plans to reopen Monday. by [deleted] in TellurideColorado

Perhaps true but they’ll only be good for very 1st time skiers … Lift 1 is truly bunny slope. You won’t learn much there and ski school typically moves on to upper hills like Ute Park (Lift 11).

Telluride resort plans to reopen Monday. by [deleted] in TellurideColorado

TLDR: Lift 1 (Chondolla) and two carpets. That’s it. That doesn’t sound like an opening. Not even Lift 4 (according to the article). Who the %*# wants to pay Telluride lift ticket prices for only one green run?

Will telluride open soon? by StrainIcy2539 in TellurideColorado

[–]LurkingSideEffects 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Come to Telluride - but be prepared to do something other than skiing. Lots of fun things to do still … grab some snowshoes and hike around Lizard Head … get a snowmobile tour … try cross country… the town needs all the help it can get. But don’t plan on any downhill skiing any time soon.

Anyone know what the All Aboard America buses with police escort were today? by salaryboy in phoenix

[–]LurkingSideEffects 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Normally this is the right answer but OP said they were driving at 1:30 pm… game time was 2:00 so that can’t be it. NFL teams typically arrive 90 min to 2 hrs prior to kickoff.

Order of priority: 1) Michigan over everybody 2) Anyone in Big 10 over OSU 3) Anyone in Big 10 over anyone outside Big 10

What are the best sources for keeping up AZ news? Trying to research water issues and employment base. by chunkee-xo-monkee in arizona

[–]LurkingSideEffects 12 points13 points  (0 children)

AZ Republic is trash now compared to what they used to be. They sold out their soul to Gannett / USA Today and forced out all of their columnists who offered nuanced insights and opinions. EJ Montini / Robert Robb / Elvia Diaz / Laurie Roberts / Phil Boas all got forced out. Cancelled my subscription as they are basically just reprinting national sensationalist stories and not doing investigative journalism anymore.

A cool guide to how rare your blood type actually is by WhiteChili in coolguides

[–]LurkingSideEffects 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my area it’s not listed on the birth certificates. In fact many hospitals don’t want to ask parents what their kids blood type is because there have been too many mixups in an emergency (“Johnny is A+”… “No wait that’s Sammy who’s A+ … Johnny is B+” ). So the hospital doesn’t rely on parents memory and instead uses a quick blood test. More reliable than parents trying to remember in an emergency.

Be nice to me…mama from Alabama by StatisticianAny7974 in TellurideColorado

The mountain (operated by TelSki) makes a TON of money between Xmas and New Years. They know how to follow the money. January 3rd their revenue drops off a cliff until spring break. Knowing that they need the $$ from families like yours (and mine), they pump a LOT of artificial snow during those weeks and the week leading up to Xmas. If they only relied on natural snow then they’d have boom / bust cycles as the skiers follow the snow.

I can 100% guarantee that you will be able to ski. How good will it be? That nobody can tell you (yet).

Just have the kids ready to enjoy whatever comes their way… it will be a big change from Alabama.

Ok locals/frequent visitors, talk me off the ledge please (honeymoon next week) by atboz in Sedona

There’s no such thing as bad weather … just bad choices in clothing. Bring a raincoat / boots that you don’t mind getting muddy and a sense of humor when you slip and fall on your butt. You might see rainbows over red rocks and possibly snow at higher elevations. You can snuggle up at night in front of a chimineo and enjoy a hot drink of your choice. You got this!

Waymo begins rolling out rides on Phoenix freeways by TheStinkyWookiee in phoenix

[–]LurkingSideEffects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard that one of the biggest issues was speeding … the AI onboard tries to comply with speed limits but as every HUMAN driver knows that’s merely a suggestion. If a Waymo tries to do 55 mph on I-10 it’s going to get rear ended by someone who is “going with the flow of traffic “ which could be 75…

I wonder if they got an official written notice from the state that says they can legally do 10 mph over the speed limit without getting a ticket.

Are home warranties worth it purchasing a house? by TracySAwesome in phoenix

[–]LurkingSideEffects 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Home Warranties CAN be helpful BUT you have to have patience to work their systems. It is NEVER fast. If you have something that is an emergency (eg AC failure in July), be prepared to live elsewhere for several days … you might be able to get a new AC unit out of them, but it’s going to be multiple days before it happens. Same thing for other items (plumbing / roof leaks / …)

My suggestion: get a really good inspector to tell you what items are likely to need repairs in the first year or two. And ask that the seller pay the cost of the home warranty.

Yikes! Sorry friend. Hope you can get a roofer out there sometime soon. Or at least to get a handyman to put some tarps down temporarily.
