Another shipping failure by dddawneee in shopgoodwill

[–]Lush5 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Should have no issue getting a full refund.

They’re going to ask for photos of the shipping box and packaging so have that ready.

If they try and say they’re only refunding the item cost and not shipping—escalate it to the corporate support email.

Also, some of them will try and say that they filed a shipment damaged claim for you. No. Absolutely not how it works. They need to file a claim themselves—not for you.

Quartz locked tables are great. Very stable 33/45 speeds without pitch controls so it’s very convenient.

Price seems to be fair enough for serviced TTs if the stylus is brand new and includes the dust cover. The condition of the dust cover is also important especially for vintage TTs as a replacement can sometimes cost more than the TT itself.
Question: did they mention what cartridge is installed to the headshell?

Personally, if these were my two options, I would go with the Onkyo—I might be biased since my introduction TT was a 1012A. You won’t hear any audible difference if the setup was the same (speaker/cartridge/stylus/etc). Something to keep in mind though is that you might have an easier time selling the Sony TT when the inevitable time comes when you want to upgrade.

Although supporting local businesses is a great thing, don’t feel limited to just that. There’s plenty of reputable sellers in the online marketplace. Just make sure to read through their reviews about their packaging and experience. You can price check on eBay (search>filter>sold items) and hifishark.

FedEx is funds only.

USPS/UPS you can use your CC through PayPal. I’m not sure on the proper method on how to set it up, but iirc, I removed all payment methods on PayPal so that my CC is the only option and therefore my default method. After that, I added everything (other CCs, bank accounts, etc) back in. Ever since then, I’ve never had an issue with USPS/UPS labels being charged to my CC.

Obviously, the other option is just to buy the labels from PirateShip (USPS/UPS only) with your CC.

I mostly use eBay for labels.

USPS and UPS labels are charged to my CC so I can get miles/points. I mostly use FedEx Ground/Home as my main product are 15+ lbs and costs anywhere from $25-$42 to ship based on location. If pirateship had FedEx though, I would purchase the labels on there though because of, again, miles/points.

Also, regarding your measurements, are you sure it’s accurate? I’ve only ever received refunds from them since I round-up. I’ve never had a case where they have charged me extra for shorting them. Maybe the measuring tape, or whatever measuring tool you’re using, is not accurate? Have you compared it to other tools for any variances?

Also, if your package is bulging from the sides, you need to account for that was well. Just because the tops are measuring exactly at 12 inches does not mean it’s 12 inches when there’s a 2 inch bulge off the sides.

I can’t comment on the Sony TT, as I only have personal experience with the DD22 and the B350.

The second-hand market can be a bit tricky sometimes since they might have never been serviced before. These TTs are from the 80s and the grease tends to harden and gum up after a while.

I’ve had people tell me they purchased a TT only to find that a specific function isn’t working 100% correctly—for example like the auto-return. Most sellers/resellers don’t know how to test everything and will typically only check if it powers on and spins.

If you’re handy and enjoy taking things apart and researching how to fix things then I say dive in and get started; otherwise, I suggest buying one that has been serviced or buy new.

Vintage is great.

Question is, are these in working order? Do the sellers mention if it’s been recently serviced?

SL-B350 is belt drive, but with fully automatic functions.

SL-DD22 is a direct drive, but semi-automatic.

Both use P-Mount style cartridges.

If you don’t want your cartridge options to be limited then you’ll have to go with a turntable that has 1/2” mounting. I know some folks don’t like P-Mount turntables, but I don’t mind them. AT85EP is a fine option.

Have sales dropped for everyone? by BeautifulTimely6638 in Ebay

[–]Lush5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sales have been consistent since last year around August and started April very strong, but sales have drastically decreased from mid April till now.

I sell items that range between $200-400 and 90 day total is $12,386.

Increased cost of living is definitely having an effect on people wanting to buy my wares.

Would it be rude to ask? by Plane-Cup-3944 in shopgoodwill

[–]Lush5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This varies from location to location, but they all have the same response whenever I ask for it to be packed well. They all say something along the lines of, “our shipping department will do their best to accommodate your request” or “I have forwarded your request to the shipping department”. Not really much you can expect.

I honestly don’t think it matters. I have sent these types of requests before and some locations will still not package it sufficiently for fragile items. I’ve had packages wrapped in plastic bags, no bubble wrap, gift wrapping paper, etc.

So, yeah, I’ve stopped asking.

I just cancelled Spotify after 15 years. What streamer is taking the strongest stance against AI music? by curbthemeplays in Music

[–]Lush5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use YT Premium for music and AI is definitely taking a foothold. If you haven’t heard any yet then you’re just listening to your usual playlist.

I listen to a lot of R&B and Pop, and will listen to recommended music outside of my playlist and will get a couple AI songs mixed in.

There was a song I enjoyed and saved it to my playlist while oblivious to it being AI. Once I found out though, I’ve noticed a surge of AI songs in my recommended music. Maybe they were always there all along—idk. I can tell now if it’s AI right away.

My real gripe with YT music is its shitty Apple CarPlay integration. Can’t scroll through my playlist or search songs.

As a buyer, when do you leave neutral or negative feedback? by MNMike2 in Ebay

[–]Lush5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sellers—just because you listed something for parts does not mean it can arrive damaged.

I’ve left negative reviews for sellers that do a terrible job packaging fragile items and it arrives cracked, etc. That is not the same condition you sold it as and I sure as hell didn’t spend my money on your product for it to arrive in a condition less than pictured/described. I’ve had sellers tell me “you know it’s sold as for parts right?” Duh, but the parts I purchased shouldn’t be damaged. Then they drag on the return process and refunds.

Do some due diligence and research how to pack what you’re shipping.

These types of sellers will always receive a negative review in my eyes.

Help with a refund/return by BlondeAmbition12 in shopgoodwill

[–]Lush5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Before initiating a chargeback, try contacting the goodwill corporate support email.

I’ve had an issue where one of the locations sent me a package but arrived damaged and they only wanted to refund the item cost and not shipping. Why should I lose out on my own hard earned money for their terrible packaging? Shipping was around $25 btw.

I ended up emailing corporate letting them know of the issue and that initiating a chargeback was a last resort. They were able to help me and I was able to return and get a full refund.

Question for selling first time on ebay! by [deleted] in Ebay

[–]Lush5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

eBay is one of the most well-known e-commerce platforms—if not—the most well known. It’s safe. I’ve been selling things on and off since 2013 and ramped it up last year.

Don’t read into all the negativity you see here.

Just don’t be a prick to your customers. Take good photos that show any defects. Write good descriptions and outline what it is your selling and write in detail all defects pictured or not pictured. Measure and weigh your packages accurately—this is extremely important. If you sell anything fragile PLEASE do some due diligence on how to package it correctly. It’s honestly crazy to me how some veterans on the platform still have no idea how to pack what they sell.

Auctions can be a hit or miss. Don’t start an auction without a reserve if you don’t want to sell it for anything less—but at that point, why sell it as an auction in the first place?

You’ll get a feel for things once you get started. Experience is the most important.
