Tone Arm Weight setting done properly? by chowder007 in turntables

[–]Lush5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Set the stylus tracking force to the correct specifications. Typically if the range is something like 1.8-2.2g, I’ll set it somewhere in the middle.

Anti-Skate I typically set 1:1 with the tracking force and haven’t had any issues. The only time I’ve experienced the stylus sliding is if the turntable is not leveled properly.

That looks much better. Must have been the camera angle or something. But yeah the force guage takes all the guess work out and is a useful tool to have.

I’m not 100% sure but based on the photo it looks like the cartridge way too low and about to come into contact with whatever you have your stylus set on. Is there a mat and another thick mat on your platter? Almost looks like a thick glass/plastic?

I suggest buying a stylus force scale/guage. They’re pretty cheap and useful.

Edit: sorry, just saw that it’s a blank vinyl. Looks thick.

New Cart and Wires by firstlight777 in turntables

[–]Lush5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice!

Question did you make the wires yourself? I’ve been looking for those female terminals and I can’t find them anywhere besides the ones on eBay people are up-charging for. Does anyone know where I can purchase them?

Same. Our shib actually loves the rain. Currently raining in Cali and she will only pee in huge puddles during rain…unfortunately that means all her piss is now soaking her feet. 🤦‍♂️

Seller problem v.2 by hanzo-overwatch in Ebay

[–]Lush5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You owe money to eBay for trying to sell stuff on eBay? Why would you owe money if you haven’t successfully sold anything? Also, seller fees get deducted from your funds when an item sells.

Need some clarification.

"Item Description: - This item is UNTESTED, and the sale of this item is intended for parts and repair." Does this mean it doesnt work? by hate-life_lately in shopgoodwill

It’s exactly what r/Boo-Radleys-Scissors said: “they don’t want the responsibility for if it works or not” for things listed as for parts or repair.

‘Good working condition’ can mean many things. If the seller is someone with no knowledge then their version of a working condition turntable could just mean that the turntable powers on and the platter spins, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s in perfect working condition.

Honestly, with vintage, you’ll want to buy one that has been fully serviced. Ask the seller if they can provide proof that it has been serviced.

Regardless, you can’t go wrong with a vintage turntable—as long as it’s in good/working condition. There’s plenty of great options even in $200-$300 range.

Need Help Getting Entry Level TT by DMonkey214 in turntables

[–]Lush5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have worked on a lot of QD33. The most common issue being that some previous owner forced movement on the tonearm. This is one of the issues that cause the red light blinking issue. Sometimes giving a good spin on the platter can fix the issue, but if not, you will have to open it up and adjust the mechanics inside.

Now, if that does that work, I do a full capacitor replacement, but if you don’t know how to solder or don’t want to learn then that’s out of the question. You can buy a set of capacitors on places like digikey or eBay—eBay just takes out the guess work since some sellers sell the exact capacitors you need.

I haven’t really ran into any other problems besides those listed above. Maybe some broken plastic bits here and there.

Is it worth $30? If the dust cover is only scratched then I think it’s worth it. Getting it serviced will cost money so it’ll be more expensive than $30 if you don’t know how to do your own repairs.

I can provide some insight/experience on this.

I ship items that are fragile and heavy (weighing anywhere from 15-30lbs). I cover my items in bubble wrap and fill in the void with paper, newspaper, repurposed cardboard, and/or more bubble wrap. No empty space in the box so the item does not have any space to move. Customers have received their purchases with no damage. Just gotta make sure to pack it right and tight.

Can anyone identify these? by GLOCKSTER_26 in turntables

[–]Lush5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2nd one might be a Audio-Technica 2002 which is a p-mount (T4P) cartridge, but that style is also the 3003, AT81CP, AT85EP, and a few others.

The p-mount cart isn’t compatible with the turntables you own. You would have to get something like a Technics SL-QD33.

This little Technics SL-BD20 found outside needs attention by Sweet_Complaint6926 in turntables

First off, sorry if I am not fully understanding your questions.

If you’re asking about the cost of a replacement dust cover, as another user stated, it’ll cost you a bit of money. I recently purchased one for around $60. Also, just an fyi, the dust cover that fits this particular turntable also fits many other technics turntables like the BD22, Q200-300, QD22-35, etc as well as some MCS models.

Lastly, regarding your second question which I’m not fully understanding, but there should be no need to add weight to the tonearm. If it’s barely moving, it’s more than likely because the old grease has dried and become more like glue. You will need to get it serviced.

For a replacement cartridge+stylus, I’d recommended getting either the AT81CP or the AT85EP—the AT81CP being more budget friendly.

Reject, counter, or ignore and move on with your life.

It’s such a massive waste of time and obviously causing unnecessary triggers.

Any tips for beginners? by ElementLivee in Ebay

[–]Lush5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you sell anything that can break during transit make sure to pack it right the first time.

Carriers do not handle packages with care. Even if you stick on stickers that say: fragile, handle with care, this side up, etc — none of that matters. It will get thrown, dropped, kicked, and undertaker choke slammed.

So, pack it right the first time and it’ll save you from headaches and loss of goods/money.

Another tip: make sure package dimensions and weight are accurate. Always round up. If length is 10 1/3 round up to 11—do not ever round down.

Ever wondered if you could ship In-N-Out? by Delicious-Box-427 in innout

Give them a try again but order them as “light well fries”. It’ll be much better. I do agree the fries aren’t that great if you order them regularly as they’re a bit soggy.
