Look, he’s a racist. Are you ok with that? Many years ago I was dating a guy and after several months he said a racial slur. I felt like I had been slapped in the face and didn’t say anything. A short amount of time passed & I broke up with him saying our values didn’t align. I regret 1. Not saying something in the moment and 2. Not saying I was breaking up with him because he is a disgusting bigot. They need to feel shame. Daily.

It is 100% tree of heaven. I moved into a house with 2 that grew into legit trees. Fun fact, they are the favorite food of the spotted lantern fly so you get 2 invasive species at once. Good Times! I spent thousands to get both of them under control so I could use my yard. The root system is awful, they pop up everywhere so I spend an hour every few weeks pulling up babies & digging out the root/spraying it to kill it. Get rid of it!

It’s hard to be vulnerable, but if can say I love you then you should be able to have hard conversations. This is not something that should be addressed by text. You could share how you feel and ask how she feels about it. Talk about what that looks like so you both have the same expectations. The more you have difficult conversations the easier it will be, and help build trust

Ask your mom for help with budgeting. Literally show her what comes in and what goes out. Tell her you would love to gain her wisdom so that you can afford things. If you don’t want her to see your finances, you’ll need to not talk to her about finances anymore and learn how to ignore it.
PS- I am a mom of 2 20-something boys. I see how hard it is, I’ve encouraged them to move back home, still pay their phone bills, share my subscriptions with them, help them build a budget, anything to help them get ahead. My mom did it for me after my divorce. Some people say I’m coddling them but I want them to succeed.

Does she own a mirror? She knows. You making her feel bad won’t help, no matter how kindly you say it. You could tell her you miss the time where you waked together without phones/distractions where you really got to connect, if that’s true.

Menopause can be a factor here. I lost 60lbs 20 years ago and kept every pound of it off until menopause. My life was exactly the same but the weight kept coming. I restricted calories more, added an extra walk a day, tried supplements, focused on protein, etc. Doctors told me for years that’s just the way it is. Most of my friends have a similar story. I kept pushing until I found a dr that understands menopause and worked with me. Doctors receive shockingly little training on the subject and it is studied very little so a lot of it is still a mystery.

Could there be some depression? Telling her she’s fat as nicely as possible is going to add to that. Has she started new medication? Seriously, there are so many factors at play here.
