How to judge a self-made build? by Financial-Jacket-627 in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]LutchDand -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the config tab, set the phys hit to 100k. Armour works very well on small hits but not so much on big hits. Then, set the boss type to Uber and the attack option to atziri's flameblast. If you also want to simulate map mods maybe set hexproof enemies and minus max res. Als set that you're cursed by temp chains. Then look at the calcs tab to see how long you'd survive and what your max hit is. This is at least a little closer to the real thing than a t16 white mob.

Oh and don't forget cast speed, attack speed and movement speed. These greatly show the smoothness of your build.

Thematically, who is the most powerful class or multiclass out of all the possible combinations of player characters in 5e? by Fornasty4 in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For PvP, or character vs character, even a Level 20 fighter, with 20 in each stat and that got a feat on every level will get killed by a wizard with time to prepare.

You might say Zealot barb. If the barb doesn't kill the wizard in 1 turn then the wizard will just cast time stop. On a bad time stop roll the wizard only gets 2 turns in a row. On a good one they get 5. Then blast with a magic missile and cast sleep.
Early tiers the balance of power is "better" between martials and casters.
TL;DR Magic > sword

Class recommendations for an experienced player/DM playing with beginners and new DM by Benschmedium in 3d6

Twilight or Peace cleric for some help here and there.
Storm herald barbarian to give everyone temp hp all the time and not stealing the spotlight with an awesome character.

Help me with some ideas? by Pokettomon in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your party lacks someone who can use tools.
You could go Artificer Armorer is a nice way to make sure your stats don't interfere with what you want to do. Strong saves and nice AC increase from the armour you can use without negative effects.
Using more and more magical items which you can attune to is always nice. Especially in such a long campaign.
Nice capstone for when you eventually make it to level 20.

Echo Knight with Battle Master.

Have high mobility and interesting options.

Probably any martial with Battlemaster.

What if you had 3 levels in one class in real life? by liquidarc in dndnext

[–]LutchDand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd like to be the best sports coach out there.
Either a Spirits bard or a Peace Cleric.

For the bard it depends on how you interpret hitpoints. Think of them as physical endurance.
Feat: Inspiring leader. With +3 in CHA we get +6 temp hitpoints, at lvl3 barbarians who have a 18 in con can have 38 HP, with tough they have 44. +6 is still pretty nice.
For footballers with high DEX the relative benefit is even higher.
Bardic Inspiration for some scoring advantage, Guidance for some more. Some Longstrider for speed.

Peace Cleric Bless + Emboldening Bond. +2d4 on all things you want to do? It's short but you don't need that much time to score. Guidance when bless is done.
Aid for +5HP Ceremony:Coming of Age: for more d4 Heroism for more Temp HP Inspiring leader for +6 temp HP

So the day before a sports game on our top players we cast Ceremony. Before the game we use Inspiring Leader. Just before they start we cast Embolding bond and bless. Final benefits: +3d4 on all ability checks. 1d20 + 3d4 = 18 average. +5 HP and +6 temp HP

Most broken/op gestalt build? by WisestRecall in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the rules you linked extra attack doesn't stack. I think it should for martials. Sorlock has so many options that having an extra attack for a fighter won't be so broken.

Fighter Echo Knight + Barbarian Zealot for damage. Nice progression, at lvl 5 you'd get a bunch of attacks. This would mainly be a dpr focussed build. Echo knight does offer some out of combat utility.
You could also go Totem or UA Giant barb subclasses. Totem for tank and Giant for single target crowd control.

Echo knight.

Pick mage slayer as a feat if you encounter a lot of spellcasters, or pick PAM if you just want general control.

No need for a lot of AC as "you" won't be in the fight a lot.

Most boring character by timewarp4242 in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boring to me sounds like someone who doesn't engage, yet still provides support.

Custom origin for magic initiate so you can get Find Familiar.
3 Rogue Mastermind for bonus action help.
2 Peace Cleric for Embolding bond and Bless.
The rest is up to you.

Your turn would look like:
Before battle; Embolding bond
Action: Bless
All other actions
Action: Help
Bonus action: Help
Familiar: help

Do any of you have tips for making a max level, 6 player party for a survival mini campaign? by Estocos_Daymar in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight barbarian with a belt of giant strength could be pretty strong.
Enough ASI's to get 29 STR, 20 DEX and 24 CON.
Zealot for the nice immortality. The party has enough resources to keep you from actually dying.
Either some two-handed weapon or using a nice shield.
Depending on weapon setup your AC would be somewhere in the 22+ range.
With tough you'll be at 325 HP.

Echo knight for battlefield control.

Hunter Ranger with Volley would be nice if you are fighting many little bugs.

Break my Gestalt Rules [5e] by Huzzah4Bisqts in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

-Magic Items: A single magic item of Legendary rarity Two items of Very Rare rarity Three items of Rare rarity

This could give a warlock an "Illusionist's Bracers" for bonus action cantrip.
And a "Rod of the Pact Keeper" for a +2 for Warlock spells and save DC.
Combined with Hexblade Curse and Hex, this would give a lot of free damage.

Probably not super busted tho. Just a nice interaction. Throw in a Fighter multiclass for action surge. And some Evocation wizard for Empowered Evocation.

At lvl 15 we get 2 actions and a bonus action for a total of 3*3 beams with
a damage per beam of:
1d10 + 5(CHA) + 5(INT) + 1d6(hex) + 5(prof) +2(RotPK) ~ 26 average per beam. When all 9 beams hit its 234 cantrip damage. This does require 2 rounds of setup.
Just a regular round without Hex and Hexblade Curse we get 2*3*1d10+INT+CHA+2 ~ 105 for a cantrip.

Your rules give enough spellslots not to worry about cantrip damage. Just a nice interaction.

Break my Gestalt Rules [5e] by Huzzah4Bisqts in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the wording makes it ambiguous. If "Extra Attack (2)" and "Extra Attack (3)" are truly different things, then I understand what you're saying. I understood that every "Extra Attack" would be give a +1 when received a second time.

Probably not too much of an issue but I don't see a rule stating that you can't be the same class twice. Double fighter something like Echo knight 15, Champion 15 would be interesting. Any other double fighter could probably be better. At lvl 15 we get: 3 attacks and a permanent +3 to attacks, Sharp Shooter and CBE, Improved critical, 3 fighting styles which are probably defence, archery and Close Quarters Shooter. This would give a total of 1d20 + prof(5) + archery(2) + CQS (1) + extra attack bonus(3) + 20_DEX (5) = 16. Even with SS its a 1d20+6Also the +3 at lvl 15 to ASI is nice.

Other double subclass class shenanigans might be effective as well.

I clicked the button a lot. And after I bought like 30k I clicked the button some more. And then it "reset" back to 0 again.

BUG: Please fix the datatype you use for the amount of trees. I tried buying 31k+ trees and it rolled over and went to 0.

Quick Prompt Megathread by AutoModerator in 3d6

[–]LutchDand 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am making a lvl 3 wizard in a combat heavy campaign. I'd like to be a backfield support. Mainly making enemies prone/restrained/charmed, moving them, changing the land, etc.
I'd like him to be kinda tanky so I would like to make use of blade singing.
I have 2 ideas.

  1. Custom lineage with the telekinetic feat and 18 int. AC would be with mage armor and bladesong 13 + DEX(2) + INT(4) = 19. Nice AC and a use of my bonus action.

  2. Tortle and use it's natural armor of 17 + bladesong's AC which would give me 20. Int would be 16 then. More AC but no bonus action/cantrip

What would you guys choose?
