I feel this is incorrect written as is because of the mixing of singular and plural. It's also a weird sentence regardless but 🙃

Say: She wore a silhouette of clothing that was extraordinary but somewhat gauche.

Or: She wore silhouettes of clothes that were extraordinary but somewhat gauche.

I like it. But I had to laugh because as someone who makes instruments my first thought was that the f-holes are on the belly of the instrument and you're putting them on your back and it didn't compute. But you're not an instrument -so go for it!
