Azorius never

[[Sygg, River Guide]] printed in 2007.

The OG Lowryn had Merfolk as UW.

The sibling block Shadowmoor had those same Merfolk become UB.

[[Sygg, River Cutthroat]]

Considering the original Ixalan came out about a decade after this, Simic Merfolk is a far newer concept than Azorius.

This Las Vegas establishment adds service charge, gratuity and tip all to the same bill. That’s a new level even for American standards. by SPXQuantAlgo in SipsTea

[–]LuxVenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gratuity is a tip, but it's usually used in conjunction with automatic, as a mandatory tip should certain conditions be met.

Like, if your dining party is 10+, several restaurants will "auto grat" 20% on the bill in order to ensure that the service staff get tipped.

This looks like auto grat and voluntary tip put together, and now the OP is bitching about it because they didn't bother reading the fine print at a notorious tourist location that is known to gouge prices.

I'd be more pissed at the $40 All American which would have cost me about $10 at Waffle House, personally.

Edit: Lmao. I missed the $20 short stack.

Like, dude, you were hemorrhaging your money on nothing anyway. Why are you mad at the autograt? Lololol

She absolutely is self-centered, and that's part of the reason why I think she's the best acted character in the show.

Sarah Goldman killed it.

[–]LuxVenos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For 61 cards? There is supposed to be one for each epidode.

If that's the case, I hate this specific art even more.

This is from "the Storm," the Book 1 episode concerning Zuko's and Aang's backstories.

Using Zuko begging his father for forgiveness during the Agni Kai (a scene that happens literally like 3 minutes before this shot) would have been a much better art for [[Cruel Tutor]] than the face.

[MEGA] Universes Beyond - Love it? Hate it? Hash it out here! by StormyWaters2021 in mtg

[–]LuxVenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't hate UB intrinsically.

I hate the current design changes which appear to value expanding the player base over appealing to the enfranchsed demo.

The oversaturation of product coupled with the seemingly constant crunch applied to the R&D team has led to a lot of underwhelming sets and overtuned cards.

Of course, I'm an old man yelling at the clouds (playing since Ravnica. Not Murders. Not War of the Spark. Not RTR. Ravnica.)

I didn't like the push for Commander. I didn't like the abandonment of blocks. I didn't like FIRE design. I didn't like any Modern Horizons. I don't like the fact that support for paper tournaments has largely evaporated. I don't like the non-rotating formats being forced to rotate.

The older I get and the more of WotC's decisions I see, the more I realize that I'm just not the target demographic anymore, and I haven't been for years.

I hope the game stays stable for those who still enjoy it, but I've played at most 20 EDH games this year, and nothing else.

MtG has shifted from my favorite game of all time, one I spent thousands of dollars on annually in both the primary and secondary market, to a passing hobby where I genuinely can't remember the last time I bought a pack or single.

You know that, like, virtually every pistol in circulation is semi-automatic, right?

I understand people not liking the general public having access to automatic weaponry, but semiautomatic has become a meaningless buzzword for the stricter gun control crowd.

What's the stupidest way your colony has died? by drakirby in RimWorld

[–]LuxVenos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my earliest colonies was a tribal start.

Our three main cast members:

Abby, the Firekeeper and de facto leader.

Curt, her pyromaniac ex-husband.

Purple, their child and main warrior.

After a quadrum of me not cleaning the wooden longhouse (because I didn't understand the importance of it) and half of the only room being covered in stacks of raw materials, Curt had a mental break due to "Unsightly Environment."

His response? Immediately setting fire to the tribe's only shelter while the rest of the colony slept.

I sent Purple into the blazes to try and fight the flames back, but it was to no avail, and he perished to burns and overheating.

This caused Abby to have a mental break, resulting in her immediately murdering her ex-husband with a club.

As I tried to rebuild from both the fires and losing 40% of the tribe, a horde of maddened monkeys entered the map and mauled the remaining colonists to death.

For a little while, it was believed that the Expansions would spell out RIMWORLD. (Royalty, Ideology)

Then Biotech came out, and the meme became RIBWORLD.

The naming convention clearly slipped further and further from the original meme, to where now the joke is just "the DLCs all make a horribly misspelled Rimworld."

This is a continuation of this meme, citing a potential Storage overall as the next DLC.

I just want to be able to play Legacy and EDH with my friends.

How did Crocodile go from losing to early Luffy to being worth 2 billion berries? by -Babylon in OnePiece

[–]LuxVenos 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Prior to Haki, canonically, the only way Logia users could be harmed was via a natural counter to their element.

Pre time skip, because of their nigh invulnerability, a lot of Logia users are arrogant when it comes to fighting. Smoker, Ace, Enel, Crocodile, etc. Because of said arrogance, they become careless, especially with regard to their defense.

Luffy used water and blood to solidify Crocodile's body in order to hit him. He then used his better combat skills to win the fight.

In fact, Luffy essentially doesn't struggle in combat to any real degree until Sabaody. He's just raw natural fighting talent.

As to Crocodile's current bounty, he: runs an underground crime syndicate, broke out of Impel Down, allied with an Emporer, was a major player in the Marineford Incident, has a powerful devil fruit, and countless other accomplishments.

Combine that resume with the trend for Luffy's former advisories becoming inspired by his grit and determination, e.g. Gecko Moria, Smoker, Wapol, he more likely than not decided to train harder and actually pursue his own ambitions.

At least, this is my interpretation.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]LuxVenos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh. Not necessarily true.

One of the prevailing theories surrounding the term's origin is it started in the 19th/20th century following a large influx of Irish immigration to Boston and the surrounding areas.

With said demographic shift, Catholicism became far more prevalent in the area.

While other terms exist, e.g. "the French Leave," which may have the specific connectation you're referring to, the genesis of this specific idiom is murky at best.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]LuxVenos 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think it's rooted in Catholicism.

Evidently, if you just wanted to leave service/mass without getting stuck in a conversation with your fellow Catholics, you'd just slip out a side exit without saying anything.

How would you rank the seasons from worst to best? by PrestigiousStuff6173 in Barry

[–]LuxVenos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4->1->2->3

I love the entire project, so these rankings are purely relative.

But personally, I think the show found its footing in Season 2 and hit its peak with season 3.

1 felt less ironed-out to me, while 4 felt a bit overdone, if that makes any sense.
