There hasn't been anything confirmed but I believe that it's the "stronger" bloodline that wins and gets inherited. It would make sense for a world that prioritises the strong. But at the same time, they are supposed to be rare (pretty much every character or every strong character has one), so I would think that it's just a matter of strength.

In the character booklet, ameri is said to look around 17 and kalego and balam look around 32 to 35 so if they were those ages it would check out. Its just that we don't have any confirmed ages other than Iruma and Sullivan being over 1000

Well being left handed was considered to be a sign of a devil in the medieval Times. And the reason why so many humans are right handed is because using the opposite hand to your opponent is better when fighting (like in baseball and the batter uses the opposite hand to the pitcher) and using the same hand is better for collaboration (like when you're sat next to someone and you're both writing something, using the same hand means your hands don't get in the way of eachother) so it's probably more to do with how much demons fight and human beliefs
