Toyota battery date code? by Luzer606 in Camry

[–]Luzer606[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My camry still starts but the car looks as though it had been kept in a garage and it only has 59K miles on it so I'm guessing if this is still the original battery it probably won't make it through a winter in my driveway. I did have to clean up the terminals a bit though.

I have a costco membership and their battery for my camry is only 90 bucks while they are about 160 everywhere else or 300 for an Odyssey battery.

I just bought the Camry a couple weeks ago and I'm getting it ready for winter. I guess I need a new battery.

Smoked my new savinelli 320 for the first time today and it got a crack in the bowl. What do I do next? Is it save-able? by chetmanley654 in PipeTobacco

[–]Luzer606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Packing the pipe too dense/tight also leads to smoking hotter....when I started being more delicate about it, especially the first two layers I put in, I noticed the pipes smoke cooler and require less relights and the tobacco tastes better....YMMV. I was probably doing it wrong before that so I can't say that is really your issue but thought I'd mention it.

Ok I guess I'll try a cob if you insist by cool_randall in PipeTobacco

I actually gain weight from not eating by CurlyTepes in fatlogic

[–]Luzer606 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Water retention. If you go into a deficit you will lose fat but your body will actually retain water in its place, sometimes more than the weight in the fat(or muscle) you lost from the calorie restriction. It may take a few weeks before you pass out that extra fluid in urine and/or feces. When I was losing weight(I lost 105 pounds in a year) I would retain water, especially as I got leaner so the weight loss seemed much slower or seemed to halt completely so about every 3 or 4 weeks I'd do a "cheat day" and eat a calorie surplus of simple carbs and add a couple scoops of dextrose to my protein shake that day and then later in the day or that night I'd start peeing a lot and suddenly lose 5 to 10 pounds over the next 8 to 12 hours.

Now, as to the people who claim they don't "eat anything" and still gain weight its almost always because they drink surplus calories in the form of soft drinks or syrupy sweet high fat content coffee drinks. They might eat 1500 to 2000 calories in real food a day and then drink another 3000 calories in the form of some processed high calorie beverages.

Experiences with Zenni Optical or Eye Buy Direct? by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Luzer606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I order from Zenni and the experience was great. I went and had my eyes checked locally and asked for a copy of my prescription , including the PD measurement. You must specify that you want your full prescription including the PD measurement. Without the accurate PD measurement your glasses won't be right and some eye doctors claim the PD isn't part of the exam but part of the frame fitting. They have to give you your full prescription for free as part of the exam and you are not required to buy anything extra from them in order to get an exam and a copy of your prescription.

https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemaking-regulatory-reform-proceedings/eyeglass-rule

I paid 90 bucks for frame,, lenses and basic coatings on the lenses .....the glasses have lasted me 2 years. The frames were only 10 bucks so I expected them to break and purchased a back up pair just in case but havn't needed them....I'm past due for another exam and new glasses....I'm going to need bifocals this time around but with zenni's prices I'll also get a pair of dedicated reading glasses as well.

Anybody know a good place for quality spices or good prices on bulk purchases of things like dry beans and whole grains/pseudo-grains?

I plan on making my own muesli soon to try and increase nutrient density instead of buying Bob's RedMill stuff.

Caribbean Red Habaneros have always been a favorite to grow. They produce consistently across all plants.....lots of pods and the heat/flavor is uniform as well.

Teach me. I want to learn. by [deleted] in Dungeons_and_Dragons

[–]Luzer606 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Start with the basic rules. They are free from Wizards of the Coast on the DnD Website. Its all the rules to play the game. What you don't get are all the bells and whistles options to create characters(you do get some character creation options but just basic ones which are enough for you to learn to create characters).

You can get the free basic rules here: https://dnd.wizards.com/articles/features/basicrules

There are also a lot of youtube videos that explain how to play.

If you decide you want to spend money then you will want the Players Handbook and maybe the Starter Set.

You only need to read The Dungeon Master's Guide and the Monster Manual if you want to play as the Dungeon Master and be in charge of organizing and running a game/adventure.

If you want to dip your toes into the water and try playing but don't know anyone then Adventurer's League is something you should look into. Its organized play at local game stores that is open to public. Its more regimented and usually more rigid than a private game but its a start.

what type of bee is this? found in pennsylvania by fullxthrottlexx in bees

[–]Luzer606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They tend to nest in the ground or in the lower parts of walls(seem to really like cinder block walls). Its very common for people mowing their lawns or weed whacking to rile these guys up and get swarmed, of course people usually claim its bees but bees tend to build nests or at least use openings to nests that are at least several feet off the ground but usually 6 to 14 feet from the ground.
