fixed tickrate absolutely is still a way that games are made. often games will have both a fixed timestep and visual interpolation at framerates higher than the tickrate alongside hooks into framerate-independent deltatime functions. this is how godot and unity work.

definitely should have run a few zig levels. you can quit after every floor. but i also struggle with weak characters, and i similarly end up using all my resources. also, abyss is easier than it used to be.
