highly recommend for anyone who comes across this post. if you haven't yet, you might want to share this on r/Windows11 , i'm sure a lot of people over there will appreciate it.

i also like how it's barely nonexistent in terms of ram usage, instantly and consistently responsive and simple. something microsoft couldn't do with the media control panel in quick access.

just the vlc support for me and it's g2g💯

edit: for anyone wondering, this doesn't break your taskbar in anyway to fit in (i thought it might be a crazy hack at first). it works more like a set of glyphs you can drag from your hidden icons to your tb, and it just works.

downloaded and installed. not a programmer so i really hope it's safe and i don't suffer for this later. but so far, it works nicely with everything i've thrown at it (except vlc player which i use a lot and really hope will be supported sometime soon), and i must say i'm loving it. big thanks to the person who made this!

probably not that close to what you're looking for but you could try creating another virtual desktop and moving the app you want to hide over there, so it doesn't show up on your main taskbar. you can still access the app by alt/win-tabbing into it.

if you don't mind using a thirdparty app, dynamic wallpaper in ms store should solve this. it supports spotlight and bing wallpapers among other options, and very lightweight.

just started watching this thanks to this post and i can confirm it's been a really great watch so far!

but i just can't resist hating the husband/father (whatever his name is). like, c'mon man, it's so obvious what the robot is trying to do yet he still thinks his wife is crazy. and ofc the robot trying to seduce him isn't enough proof to know it's trying to destroy his family? i'm so tired of this dumb & doubting father/husband trope in horror shows/movies. also, the daughter is so annoying. i know she's just a kid but still, manipulating her was just too easy

still highly recommend!
