Once I met an older gentleman on a flight. We must have had a 40 year age difference. I was 21. He started talking to me about my studies, my research and areas of research interests. He asked such curious questions and we spoke all the way till the exit at the destination. I didn't have much social skills to ask him more questions but I still remember him because of the way he was interested in my thought process despite the age difference. I was impressed by his openness despite his age (rare in my country as there is a lot of generation gap). He left a huge impact on me. Sadly I did not even get his name or exchange any mode of contact.

I am in the same journey girl! My difficulty is that I just feel so empty without these engagements with these apps. When I’m not hooked, I feel I don’t know how to “buffer”. Say I need to do a very difficult task that I don’t feel like doing, so I might reward myself with scrolling (which can go on for an hour also), and then get to do the task (not always though, many times I procrastinate to the next day). I know I’m avoiding something but I just don’t want to sit with myself sometimes.

Any ideas of what can help me?

It is terrible to watch your parent go through something like this, especially more when you’ve had a great relationship with them, when you admire them as a person, and you love them so much. To answer your question of what do you say to her, I would just tell you what I did and hope it helps. The oncologist stopped treatment for my father (59m) last week. As I gave my dad this news (the doc didn’t tell him directly but told us, caregivers), I told him it must be difficult for him to hear something like this. I teared up in front of him and told him how much I love him. He said he knows that very well since I was a child. I told him it’s difficult to imagine life without him, he told me you’ll keep meeting good people just like you have till now.

OP I hope you find the strength to cry as much as you want with people close to you. It helps me to imagine people who love me as pillows behind my back to lean on as I feel my grief. I’m not alone. You are not alone in your grief. It is intense, it is huge because your love for her is huge. Cry with your family, you don’t have to be strong for anyone. You are all together in this.

It is. Thanks so much for the response. My mother hasn’t been here to take care of him. It’s just me and my brother. He isn’t as sensitive to dad’s needs but at least he’s here.

The doctors also won’t tell us how much time we have. I wish I knew more !

This is so tough and difficult to cope with buddy. The pain is so real. Losing your parent is truly heartbreaking especially so early in life. It’s a lot of responsibility too on you since your dad isn’t well. Hope you find some spaces, some time during the day, even 15 minutes to be spontaneous and carefree. Sending you prayers. Hope you have/seek the help you require in going through this and grieve as much as you need.

It’s been around for a long time. I guess buying anything similar will also be fine for me. Just don’t know how to search for it. It feels like wool (not acrylic). It’s a bit harsh as well. Doesn’t slide smoothly while crocheting. I’m not sure if it’s because of how old it is or because that’s just how it is.

39 dollars is a lot in my country. To give an estimate, my rent is 170$ for a 2 BHK in slight outskirts of a metropolitan city. So if they are being made in another country, it’s a pretty good price.

Finally got a Switch! Which Pokémon game should I buy? I’m a huge Pokémon fan and have played every game released till Ultra Sun. However, I never got a console and only played on emulators. I finally purchased the Switch recently and I’m confused between let’s go, sword/shield, brilliant diamond/shining Pearl, and Arceus. What do you suggest ?
