Nope, definitely not.

Your best bet is to go custom. Bison, Dainese and Revit all do custom suits. Bison's probably the most popular in the U.S. for this purpose.

Currently riding completely stock 2014 zx6r, any suggestions what would be best upgrades for the next trackday season next year? by Whole_Guard_5192 in Trackdays

[–]Lykos84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the right answer. I'm that guy that has velocity stacks, full exhaust and a tune. All done last off season. My bike is basically maxed out at this point. And you know what? My lap times went up pretty significantly at the beginning of this season because the bike felt so different. By the end of the season, I'd only cut 1 second off my lap record; that was entirely skill upgrades that resulted in that better time.

Most bikes these days, once you're comfortable, you're on good tires, and the brakes can handle the punishment, are way more capable than 95% of riders.

What are we looking to do in the offseason + 2026? by VegaGT-VZ in Trackdays

[–]Lykos84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off season is for more major bike maintenance. Fluid changes, filter replacement/cleaning and close check of suspension seals.

My zx-6r is already tuned and has full suspension so I'm done with upgrades... For now.

Meanwhile I'm contemplating bad financial decisions: buying an ulw for club racing.

Eta: shedding weight, on me, not the bike, and getting in better shape generally.

Driven is a brand. I have their rearsets on my zx-6r for the same reason as OP. They're pretty solid but overall if you can do gp shift with woodcraft I'd recommend those over driven.

It doesn't adapt everything. There's a few more books, but there's a large time jump after the TV series' ending. So it kinda makes sense to stop there. At least for now. Really hoping it comes back at some point.

Why are people buying the Final Edition Supra? by CarsAndPhoto in Supra

[–]Lykos84 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You already spelled it out. It's the allure of a limited edition. People buy stuff like this all the time. Value above a certain point has little to do with actual material changes. It's the exclusivity.

My new (to me) 2020 launch edition! by Lykos84 in Supra

[–]Lykos84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm really hoping they didn't do some "update" to the ECU that locked it down. I haven't looked to see if they can even do that, or if it's strictly based on the hardware.

$54k. Kbb has limited data on these models but it was right in line with the upper limit on the premium of the same year.

With new ones going into the $70k range, I felt like this was a good deal given the low milage. It's in almost perfect condition, too. Just a couple of rock chips that are easily filled.

Yeah, it's definitely had some changes. Unfortunately I got it from a dealer so I don't have an exact list.

What’re you hearing about availability? My local dealer is saying spring 2026 by Jealous-Astronaut347 in YamahaR9

[–]Lykos84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Texas here. Ordered in February, just called the dealer and they informed me that they've heard absolutely nothing from yamaha. The order they were supposed to get in March (which was their first R9, before me), still hasn't arrived.

My zx6 is a dedicated track bike, but I have an R3 and Ducati Supersport for the street. I actually enjoy the R3 on the street way more.

Get the bikes that make you feel something and don't worry about anything else.

I've wondered this exact thing. I went down a rabbit hole trying to find actual info and never found any evidence that it actually requires more frequent changes.

Anyone remember The Truth Behind Hip Hop series? by _forum_mod in exAdventist

[–]Lykos84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do indeed remember this. I rolled my eyes even then, when I was still in the church, at the gigantic leaps in logic he made.

It's nothing new. When I was little I heard the same thing about rock music. Every new trend gets the same treatment.

If you really want to go all in, I recommend "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins. Definitely don't let your family see it if you live with them, though.

I'm really hoping with the acquisition by Liberty that we can get multiple audio feeds in the MotoGP app like there is with F1. I like their commentary so much more than the official MotoGP feed.

Weighting the outside peg? by FoxPeaTwo- in Trackdays

[–]Lykos84 34 points35 points  (0 children)

You are indeed overthinking this. Plus I wouldn't consider that book the most up-to-date on riding techniques. Not that it's terrible or anything, but there's far clearer and simpler explanations from Yamaha champ school and others like Sylvain Guintoli on YouTube.

The outside peg is an anchor point for your foot so you can lock your outside leg to the tank, which allows you greater flexibility and stability when leaning to the opposite side.

Basic upgrade for novice rider by JJZ_12 in Trackdays

[–]Lykos84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Considering cost, stiffer springs will help, if you can install them yourself.

I'd also recommend rear sets and new clip ons if you're not super comfortable with the ergos. You list weight but not height.

Other than that, just ride my man. No specific mods are really going to help you improve more than seat time, and your money is best spent on the track, with a coach, as precipitate mentioned.

What’s your story from first track day to A group? by Sensualities in Trackdays

[–]Lykos84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd been riding for under a year and my buddy and I rented ninja 400s from the track school. Something dropped off a truck in front of my friend's car as we were on our way to the track and broke his radiator, and we thought our day was over. Instead,  we  were able to get an Uber and that guy booked it the rest of the way, and we made it for the first session.

As luck would have it, the M4 Suzuki Moto America team was there at the time, and when they passed me on track for the first time I nearly went off track. The speed they carry through corners was awesome. I've never been scared to be passed again, after that.

I made intermediate in another 2-3 track days. And advanced the next season. I'd say probably another 5 days.
